Pure joy right here…… I have a physical reaction in my body when I prepare my cacao. I can feel my body exhale and a touch of anticipation as cut from the block and the aroma is unlocked. It wasn’t always this way, often I was rushing and didn’t pick up on the subtle signs my body offered me. Tell me, when you slow down - what do you notice? It might not be about cacao, anything - what subtle messages do you receive when you slow down?

Have you noticed the days feel different? More alive, warmer? I was so pulled inward this winter - more than ever. With Imbolc coming on August 2nd (traditional date for the southern hemisphere) we can feel the beginnings of Spring, new growth after lying dormant over the cold winter. The energy feels alive, full of possibility - it’s the beginning of a whole new cycle - Spring / rebirth / Maiden / sunrise. This is a beautiful time to hold an Imbolc ceremony / spiritual practise around new beginnings, planting (metaphorical or actual) seeds. Create an altar that is filled with items that represent Spring/Birth/Maiden, sit with your cacao and bring awareness to what you’re calling in (your seeds), what needs to be released (your weeds) and how you intent to nurture these over the coming weeks/months. It’s also tue time for ‘Spring cleaning’ get rid of anything that feels heavy or stuck, make room for the new growth and expansion! Tell me, what are you focusing on for Spring and what are you leaving behind?

Im curious - what gives you joy? I’ve been talking to a friend recently and the topic of JOY came up, it got me thinking about what brings me joy. Spending time being creative is right up there! I love crafting and making and learning new creative skills and buying all.the.things. - so much joy! I love spending time with my family and my dog brings so much joy. Remembering to be present WITH the feelings of joy is essential. Because most of us are with family and our dogs etc everyday - but do you FEEL joy everyday? Take a pause, breathe, connect with joy and let it fill you up!!

I’m so excited to have these delicious cacao cups and ritual bowls in my store. I connected with a wonderful ceramic artist Tracey who is making these hand formed organic and unique cups and ritual dishes just for us! She and I share a love of intentional crafting, slow and small batch offerings to deepen your cacao experience. Available in the store now and I’ll have them (if they don’t sell before) at the this Saturday. Also taking preorder sales for cups.

Does Ceremony really need to be an elaborate occasion? Or does holding a ‘cacao ceremony’ mean you need to dig up/release traumatic memories/emotions? Ceremony means different things to different people, but I think we can invite ceremony into our everyday. We experience ceremony with two things: intention and presence. You can sit with cacao in ceremony everyday - make your cacao with intention and drink it with presence. Why rush when you can be fully present and enjoy every sip. You deserve to invite ceremony into your life.

Peruvian Golden Palo Santo - back in stock. These thick chunky palo santo bundles come from Northern Peru and are sustainably harvested from 4+ years naturally fallen branches. This palo santo is the Golden variety - it has a blend of light and dark wood. The dark wood is rich in essential oils and the light wood helps with flammability - it has a rich aroma and instantly grounding and calming. Now we can enjoy all the magic of palo santo and know it’s sustainably sourced. 🙏🏻

Dairy vs Plant milk - what’s the deal?
You may have heard you should make your cacao on a plant milk (or water) rather than cows milk. Now I just want to preface this by saying - you do you - if you love dairy go nuts!
The reason it’s suggested to use plant milk is due to iron absorption (swipe to read more). Now is this important? If you’re drinking your cacao for all the health benefits then I would say yes - cacao is high iron (one of the highest plant based sources) so drinking cacao with cows milk can hinder how much is absorbed by your body. You can also make your cacao on water - it’s really a personal choice.
I like to make my cacao on organic coconut milk, but that’s just me. How do you make yours?

WINTER SOLSTICE - the end of the darkness 🌑- the return of the sun 🌞. It’s time to give thanks to darkness of the void and welcome the coming of the new cycle. The time of the Crone (knowledge, death) is giving way to time of the Maiden (playful curiosity, rebirth) A simple Yule ceremony - make your cacao, journal what you’re grateful for (lessons learnt or what you’re releasing) or you could write on a piece of paper and now light a candle to welcome the return of the Sun - you can also burn your paper as you let go the old. Drink your cacao as vision the rebirth of the Wheel of the Year (coming Spring) what are you calling in, beginning or growing? Journal, write a poem or make an art piece - celebrate the new!
