Coastal Care Services & Counselling

Coastal Care Services & Counselling Coastal Care Services is expanding to introduce counselling and therapy services. I embrace the idea that personal and physical wellbeing is interconnected.

Located on the Sunshine Coast we offer counselling and other therapies that embraces the connection between physical and mental wellbeing using a holistic approach. Dana has been active in this space for some time now and would like to be able to provide a higher quality service, so thank you to everyone that has supported Coastal Care Services in the STA environment over the last 18 months. It has given us an opportunity to meet and work alongside some amazing humans and we wish you all the best. My experience in disability, youth, adult, education and training has allowed me to work alongside some of the remarkable children, young people, adults and their families from the Gold Coast to the Sunshine Coast. I believe in a holistic approach which encompasses all aspects of the person, including support networks, environment, existing and potential barriers. More importantly, my practice includes working from person centred and strengths-based approaches, as they are key to assisting individuals in realising and fulfilling their potential, and achieving their goals. These approaches consider the person’s values, existing strengths and ensures they are included in the decision-making process by acknowledging themselves as the expert in their lives. My practice allows young people and families the opportunity to explore issues around their wellbeing such as anxiety, depression, school refusal, children struggling with big emotions, and many others while engaging in physical activity and other strategies.

It’s about the delivery. It can be hard as a parent sometimes. As a parent we are the ‘cheat sheet’ for our kids moving into ‘adulthood’, though this can be difficult for them to see!
What I’ve learned is that it is choosing the right moment, environment and how I deliver the message is important for how the message is received.

I saw this today and it resonated 💙💙💙

Parenting is tough and challenging at times and can leave you feeling as if you are doing this alone. Though even if we have feelings of doubt and worry, so do many other mums and dads, but this doesn't mean you are not a good parent. These feelings are what make us think about our actions and how we could do things differently.

✨ To all the parents out there, remember that being ‘good’ doesn’t mean being perfect.

Parenting is filled with moments of doubt, worry, and even mistakes.

It’s completely normal to feel lost sometimes and to have days that don’t go as planned.

What truly matters is the love, effort, and presence you bring into your child’s life.

Embrace the journey with all its imperfections, because it’s these very moments that make us grow. 🌱

Sometimes it can be difficult for people to talk about their feelings, though we can help people to communicate with us in many ways.

Actions speak louder than words. Our children are constantly observing us, if we can be humble, listen to others, practice acceptance and be kind to others, these will be the traits our children will adopt and pass on.

These are great considerations.

GETTING TO KNOW YOU

I believe it’s important to get to know you and your family by meeting with you before your stay and gathering as much information as I can from everyone involved. Not only will this help everyone feel more comfortable and secure, together we can create a plan that is unique to you for your time with us. Things we can discuss are activity preferences, dietary needs, medication and any other questions you have.
