💬 My name is Jayne McIntyre, and I’m a debut children’s author. On 17 March, I released the first book in a brand-new trilogy published by Riveted Press.

The story is inspired by the landscapes and animals of the Sunshine Coast and is written for readers aged 8–12. Creating something that encourages young readers to connect with stories, imagination and the natural world has been incredibly rewarding.

This year, my focus is on building connections with local bookshops, schools and festivals to promote reading and meaningful interaction with the environment. I’m a strong supporter of bookstores across the Coast and look forward to running workshops during the school holidays and beyond.

💬 Nanna Jen’s Services was built from a lifelong commitment to care, shaped by more than 40 years of experience and a background in nursing. I saw a gap for calm, one-on-one in-home pet care, especially for senior pets, rescue animals, and those with medical or behavioural needs.

Today, as a sole operator, I’ve cared for more than 300 pets across Moreton Bay, the Sunshine Coast and surrounding areas. My focus is on keeping pets in their own home, where they feel safest, most settled and least stressed.

What makes this work so meaningful to me is the chance to combine professional care with a more holistic approach. Alongside experience in medication administration, animal behaviour, and Animal First Aid and CPR, I’ve also trained in holistic animal wellness, animal Reiki and canine massage.

💬 Hi, I’m Jon from Airqua – Water from Air. We provide water generators and coolers that harvest pure drinking water from humidity in the air. That means no plastic bottles, no plumbing, and, when paired with solar power, the ability to create drinking water almost anywhere in the world.

My journey started about five years ago when I heard on the radio that devastating floods were tearing through Pakistan. Entire towns and infrastructure were being wiped out, and children were suffering because they could not access safe drinking water, even though water was everywhere around them.

As a father of two daughters, that really struck a chord with me. It sparked a search for a real solution.

That search led us to Wallie Ivison in Woodford, Queensland, the inventor of this atmospheric water generator technology. From there, Airqua began to take shape. Wallie still supports us with technical advice as we continue exploring what is possible for the future.

💬 My journey as a Virtual Assistant began in 1999, at a time when working from home was still seen as unusual. I had a baby, a mortgage, no full-time childcare, and no guarantee that this new way of working would succeed.

Before that, I had built my career as an executive PA, including roles in legal and hospitality. When I became a mum, I planned to return to work part-time, but the reality of childcare and workplace expectations made that impossible. Instead of giving up, I started looking for another way.

With a computer, a phone, strong admin skills and plenty of determination, I began building a business from home. This was back in the days of dial-up internet, long before Zoom, cloud systems or flexible work culture. But I could see the opportunity, and I backed myself.

What started as a practical solution quickly became a business I was proud to grow. It taught me the importance of mindset, resilience and thinking like a business owner from day one.

💬 Six Zero Pickleball started in our garage on the Sunshine Coast. What began with my husband Dale experimenting with paddle design quickly turned into something much bigger.

My name is Tanya Young, and together Dale and I co-founded Six Zero with a simple belief: paddles could be designed better. Dale, an engineer, became fascinated by the materials, construction and performance of pickleball paddles, while I was still working in public health research. Suddenly, we found ourselves learning how to build a global brand from scratch.

Like many small businesses, the early days were filled with long nights, problem-solving and constant learning. What kept us going was the excitement of creating something new and seeing players genuinely love the paddles.

Today, Six Zero exports to more than 100 countries, with players around the world using paddles designed right here on the Sunshine Coast. We’re incredibly proud that what started as a small family project has grown into a global community, while still staying grounded in the place where it all began.
