As we draw to a close of 2025, here at Function Plus Therapy, we want to wish all our Clients, Providers, Support Coordinators, and Suppliers a very Merry Christmas and Safe New Year.

We are shutting down from the 19th December so our Team can enjoy a very well deserved break, and will have a skeleton staff until the 5th of January.

We will have our full team back but the 20th of January.

Did you know that more than 14,000 NDIS participants accessed art and music therapy last year?

An independent review has confirmed the NDIS will keep funding art and music therapy if it’s delivered by qualified therapists and linked to a participant's disability-related needs and goals.

Here's what we know so far:
✔️ A new price limit of $156.16 per hour will take effect from 24 November 2025
✔️ Only qualified therapists registered with AMTA (music therapy) or ANZACATA (art therapy) can deliver these supports
✔️ NDIS funding will only cover therapeutic sessions - not general art or music classes, lessons or materials
✔️ Group therapy rules will still apply (for example, costs are split when more than one participant is supported).

🚨Changes are happening to Queensland’s blue card system 🚨

Since 1 July 2025, a phased approach has been rolling out to strengthen safeguards for children.

The changes include:
- new types of child-related work requiring a blue card
- new exemptions and stronger self-disclosure laws
- a simpler decision-making and disqualification process
- stronger compliance and suspension powers
- standardisation of the volunteer parent exemption

If you’re part of a sporting organisation, now’s the time to make sure your club is compliant and ready for these changes.
