šŸ«¶šŸ¼ā€Neurokin: Transforming Neurodivergent Care from the Inside Outā€ brings together ten authors, an experienced group of nurses, counsellors, therapists, kinesiologists, healers, educators and parents.

Each one became an expert in holistic health and wellbeing for neurodiversity, because their own personal survival or that of their family depended on it.

Together, we’ve written the book we once needed. A book in hope of creating care that fits us. A book filled with practical strategies, why standard healthcare approaches fail, how things can be approached differently and shared lived experiences. Written for professionals, parents and NeuroKin alike.

I’m proud to stand among these men and women and I’m looking forward to introducing them over the following weeks.

🧔 unconditional love doesn’t result in freeze, flight, fight or fawn responses. It’s not ā€œI love you no matter whatā€ if that means ignoring harm or sacrificing ourselves. True unconditional love is rooted in acceptance—seeing someone as they are, without trying to change or fix them. But it also means holding love for ourselves just as tenderly.

To truly love ourselves, we must honor our boundaries. Sometimes, this means recognizing that in order to keep loving someone, we may need to limit their involvement in our lives—or even let them go entirely. Love isn’t about enduring what diminishes us; it’s about creating space for both compassion and self-respect. Letting go doesn’t mean we stop loving—it means we choose to love in a way that honors the fullness of who we are.

✨ Start normalising periods and period products in your home from toddlerhood.

Gone are the days where periods are a secret until our girls reach 9 or 10 and then we SHOCK them with the details.

Normalise periods in your home with both boys and girls.

✨ Lots of little conversations often and building on information and detail each time.

You know your child, let them guide you. Answer questions AND…….

✨ Use resources - books, images, diagrams, videos, workshops, friends and family.

Sometimes it helps if the info comes from other sources too! Encourage conversations with other trusted people and use other sources of info as well according to what suits your child!

Doesn’t that sound so beautiful?

My kids and I attend the most wonderful little group OT session every week. It’s a new thing, and the beautiful OT who runs it writes this in almost every email.

**our goal this term is to create a space that signals safety to our nervous systems, rather than being purely goal driven, so the children feel secure to form sweet friendships, learn and share together.**

It really grabbed my attention. I thought about several times over the last week, I wrote it up in my whiteboard so I could look at it and it’s because it so perfectly described what I was trying to create for you at our events. And for the facilitators at our events. And also what I am trying to create in my home and in my life and my kids lives after so many years (ever really) living with a nervous system stuck in a fear response.

When I think about all of the events I hold for you, I’ll think about this. Every time. ā¤ļø

It could be your nervous system. In fact, it’s very likely, at least in part, you’re nervous system. The huge load placed on mothers and women in generally means that our nervous systems find it hard to distinguish between being chased by a lion and our kid’s noisy breathing.

Checkout some of the ways our nervous system becomes dysregulated. It’s no wonder we’re screaming at our partners for asking where the sauce is.

A homeschooling mum and a community-focused business owner and health practitioner. She is a qualified Nutritionist, Naturopath and Herbal Medicine Practitioner and an accredited, practising member of the Australian Natural Therapists Association (ANTA). AND she has a background in Psychology.

Colette loves combining the best of naturopathy’s traditional wisdom and practice with the latest academic research in order to ensure the very best outcomes for her clients.

The practice of applying meditation techniques to every day tasks.

I did not know this!!!! The thought of sitting down for 20 minutes to meditate gives me anxiety. (But I’m not giving up on it! More in another post). BUT attaching meditation techniques to everyday tasks, to help calm these fragile nerves, sounds more doable!
