Learn to teach Yoga for children with Special Needs

Be part of the Sunshine Coast’s first ever international Yoga for the Special Child program this October, straight from the USA!

Yoga for the Special Child® is a unique therapeutic yoga method that has changed the lives of countless children with additional needs around the world. The program was pioneered by world renowned teacher Sivakami Sonia Sumar who herself had a daughter with additional needs. Sonia resides in the United States and has been a pioneer of yoga for children with additional needs for over 40 years. She will be bringing her program to Australia for the first time in 8 years.

Yoga for the Special Child® is also an effective early intervention program that can facilitate the healthy formative development of infants and toddlers with additional needs.

The Program

Learn to teach yoga to children with additional needs including children with:
- Autism, Down's Syndrome, Epilepsy, Prader-Willi Syndrome
- ASD, ADD, ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, Hemiplegia
- Speech impediments, Eye impediments
- Behaviour challenges, wheelchair users and many more.

*No previous yoga or medical experience required*

**Suitable for teachers, health practitioners, parents, yoga practitioners, and more**

The Method

- Integrates balanced yoga poses to increase body awareness and strength.
- Uses specialised breathing exercises, eye exercises and relaxation techniques to improve focus and concentration.
- Incorporates vocal work to improve speech, strengthen lungs and deeply oxygenate the body
