📢 Why Professional Boundaries Matter in Disability Support

Professional boundaries are an important part of keeping everyone safe and respected – both support workers and participants.

👩‍⚕️ What are boundaries?
They’re clear rules about how we interact so our relationships stay professional, not personal.

💡 Why they’re important:
✅ Keep participants safe, comfortable, and respected.
✅ Protect support workers from unsafe or tricky situations.
✅ Make sure the support relationship is focused on care and goals, not friendship.

📌 Examples of good boundaries:
✅ Use work contact details, not personal phone numbers.
✅ Keep chats positive and professional, not about personal problems.
✅ Don’t accept or give money or expensive gifts.
✅ Keep social media private – no adding participants as friends.
✅ Only see participants during rostered shifts.

🌟 These simple steps keep everyone safe, supported, and respected. Professional boundaries aren’t about being unfriendly – they’re about providing the best care possible.

🌟Understanding Conflict of Interest at SDC🌟

At Superior Disability Care (SDC), we want to make sure everything we do is honest, fair, and focused on YOU.
One way we do this is by making sure there are no conflicts of interest.

🧐 What’s a conflict of interest?
A conflict of interest happens when someone’s personal gain (for themselves, their family, or friends) could get in the way of making the best choice for you.

💡Examples of conflicts of interest:

* A support worker suggesting you use their own business instead of another provider.
* A friend or family member being hired to provide your services, even if they’re not the best fit.
* Staff accepting or giving gifts or money that could influence theirs or your decisions.

💪 How SDC prevents this:
We take this very seriously! Here’s what we do to protect you:
✅ Clear Policies: We have rules that explain what a conflict of interest is and how to avoid it.
✅ Staff Training: Our team is trained to recognise and report conflicts of interest.
✅ Transparency: We will always tell you if a potential conflict exists and work with you to decide the best option.
✅ No Gifts or Favouritism: Our staff don’t accept or give gifts or favours that could affect their work decisions.

💬 Why this matters:
We want you to feel safe, respected, and supported knowing that every decision is made in your best interest.

The NDIS Code of Conduct sets the standard for safety, respect, and quality in disability care. But what does that look like, day to day, at Superior Disability Care?

For us, it guides everything...from how we greet you, to the way we protect your privacy and handle your information. We always support your choices, treat everyone with kindness, and encourage our team to speak up if something’s not right.

Real examples? We let you decide how you want your support delivered, keep all details confidential, and welcome questions or feedback so we can keep improving. It’s how we make sure you and your loved ones always feel safe, heard, and respected.
