In Chinese medicine we use a different language and terms when discussing a woman’s body.
Oestrogen is seen as a Yin substance. Yin is cooling, nourishing, and moisturising fluid and governs a time to build and nourish. This is why as we age and start to reduce oestrogen we get drier, hotter and we have less fluids.
Progesterone is seen as a Yang substance which is warming, active and moving. It’s a time for transformation and when your temperature rises and blood is built for the uterus.
Ovulation is the transformation time, it is when the body should shift from yin to yang energy and many women get stuck during this time. If yin or yang is insufficient ovulation can be delayed or absent which causes issues for women trying to get pregnant.
Menstruation is the movement of blood and qi time, if you have clots, brown blood, scanty or heavy bleed demonstrates stagnation in this movement.
All these things are observed and what I work with when seeing women who want to get pregnant in the clinic or maybe they are having issues transitioning through menopause.
If you want to know more, let’s chat and book in a time.
