💗 A beautiful piece of Cindy’s legacy 💗

Today, we’re honoured to share a special TV commercial from 1992, featuring the incredible Cindy Mackenzie — the woman whose kindness, courage and spirit inspired the creation of our breast cancer program.

Back in the early '90s, both Cindy and her husband John were cabin crew, and Cindy was chosen as the face of the national advertising campaign when Australian Airlines and Qantas merged. ✈️

This commercial was lovingly shared with us by John, who told us: “Cindy is the flight attendant who hands the newspaper to the cheeky passenger. And towards the end, you’ll see her big beaming smile.”

That unmistakable smile, that warmth, that spark — it’s why we do what we do, and why her legacy continues to guide and inspire our support for local families facing breast cancer.

Thank you, John, for allowing us to share this special moment in time.

And thank you, Cindy, for continuing to inspire us all. 💕🌸

💕 Meet Alice – Our Program Coordinator 💕

1️⃣ What do you love most about working in breast cancer care?
"I love being able to make a practical and personal difference during a time that can feel overwhelming. We support people in ways that suit their individual needs, always with compassion and no judgement. Even small things can ease some of the pressure when it’s needed most. I feel incredibly honoured to hear people’s stories — it’s a privilege to be trusted during such a vulnerable time, and their strength and resilience are truly inspiring. Being able to listen and walk alongside them, even in a small way, is something I never take for granted. I’m also so lucky to work closely with Amy and Karen, the wonderful Buderim Private Hospital Breast Care Nurses — being part of such a caring team makes the work even more meaningful."

2️⃣ What’s one thing you wish more people knew about breast health or support?
"Support isn’t just medical — emotional and practical support matter just as much. You don’t have to go through it alone, and it’s okay to accept help. Also, you know your body best. If something doesn’t feel right, get it checked. Early conversations can make a big difference."

3️⃣ What brings you joy outside of work?
"I love cooking and feeding the special people in my life — there’s something really joyful about bringing people together over good food, laughter, and conversation. I also love exploring some of the fabulous restaurants across the Sunshine Coast, travelling whenever I can (especially through South East Asia), and recently my hubby and I have been enjoying discovering the wonderful walking paths around our beautiful Sunshine Coast. Good food, new places, laughter, fresh air, and time with the people I love — that’s my happy place."

Today on International Women’s Day, we honour the woman whose legacy inspires everything we do — Cindy Mackenzie.

This year’s theme, “Give To Gain”, speaks to the heart of her story.

Cindy gave kindness, compassion, and courage to others, even in her most challenging moments — and through that giving, she created a legacy that continues to support people across the Sunshine Coast. 💗

Her life is a reminder that when we support one another, we all gain strength, hope, and community.

Today we celebrate Cindy.
We celebrate every woman.
And we celebrate the power of giving. 🌷

✈️💗 Honouring Cindy’s Legacy

We were recently gifted this beautiful photo of Cindy from her days as cabin crew — kindly shared with us by her husband, John.

John shared a little background about this special moment:

"Cindy and I were both cabin crew back in the day. Cindy was chosen to be the face of the airline advertising campaign when Australian Airlines and Qantas merged — a testament to her grace, warmth and professionalism."

Today, the Cindy Mackenzie Breast Cancer Program continues the legacy of the remarkable woman behind our name.

We are grateful to John for allowing us to share this treasured memory with our community. 💗

💗 Client Gratitude 💗

We are so grateful to share these heartfelt words from one of the beautiful people supported by the Cindy Mackenzie Breast Cancer Program:

"I was quite overcome with emotion to receive the unexpected financial assistance from the Cindy Mackenzie Breast Cancer Program which I am so very grateful for. I already felt blessed to have your wonderful Nurses supporting me by supply of support bra, moo goo and their affirming phone calls. It has been quite a journey so far, made so much easier by the compassion and care given by so many people who care and 'get' what it is happening without overt intrusion. Thank you to the donors, corporate and private individuals, it really is about paying it forward and, at this moment in time, I for one am a very humble and grateful recipient. My sincerest gratitude to all involved keep up the good work. 🙏" — D.T.

To our incredible donors and supporters — this is the impact of your kindness. Because of you, local families facing breast cancer feel supported, cared for and never alone.

Thank you for helping us make a difference in our community 💞

🌸 Lymphoedema Awareness Week | March 2–8

This week, we’re honouring everyone impacted by lymphoedema — a condition that can occur after breast cancer treatment and affects daily life in ways that often go unseen.
At the Cindy Mackenzie Breast Cancer Program, we’re committed to supporting locals living with lymphoedema through care, connection, and compassion. 💗

Let’s use this week to:
✨ Raise awareness
✨ Break down stigma
✨ Stand with those navigating life after breast cancer

We’re thinking of everyone managing lymphoedema and sending strength and care your way.
