🚑 Need a daytime emergency vet?
We know it can be stressful when your pet suddenly needs urgent care, especially when many practices are focusing only on routine procedures or sending cases straight to the ER.
At Nicklin Way Vet, we’re building a culture of doing things differently. 💫Whenever possible, our doctors and team will step up for pets in need of emergency care. If a pet requires urgent attention, we do our best to be flexible, adjust our schedule, and help where we can.
Of course, we also need to balance our team’s wellbeing and existing patients’ needs—so while we may not be able to take on every emergency, we’ll always see if we can assist and guide you towards the right care for your pet.
The bonus? On the Sunshine Coast, emergency surgeries often start at $4000–$6000 😱 At Nicklin Way Vet, we’re able to provide many of these life-saving procedures for considerably less, and with the same familiar team who already knows and loves your pet. 🥰
👉 If your pet is facing an urgent situation, call us first—we’ll let you know how we can help.

🌟🐾 Happy Birthday to our incredible vet Stacey, a true hero for animals great and small! 🐾🌟
Not only do you heal and care for beloved pets, but you also give rescue animals a second chance at life. 💙 Your compassion, dedication, and tireless work make the world a kinder place for every paw, claw, and whisker.
We hope today brings you as much happiness as you bring to all the animals (and their humans) every single day. 🎂🐶

Continuing our series in celebration of International Dog Day, today we meet Lenny 🐾
The story goes back to 2019 when our nurse Sarah needed a sibling for her Dalmatian, Stella. "Adoption is always an option, so I took a trip to Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge" says Sarah. "There was a refuge in New South Wales on the brink of being caught in the bushfires fires raging through at the time, and SCARS helped them out by taking a whole litter from them to adopt out up here.
"I saw his cute little face and wanted a mate for Stella. So I took Stella in for a meet and greet and they got along well. Long story short, he is in the right home now. Lenny didn't get the best start to life and he struggles with anxiety and aggression behaviours. He is what made me look further into dog behaviour and anxiety and started my interest to further study why dogs act the way they do and how we can help them."

Well, Lenny, we think you've got the best mum you could ever wish for! 🥰Happy International Dog Day 🦮

On International Dog Day 🐾 we shared stories about how we met our canine kids. Funny stories, sad stories, heart-melting stories; we have them all!
This is the story of Stacey and Snoopy, and how they came to be family....

A stray puppy was brought in to the clinic on a Sunday in 2019. There was no history - all we knew was he was found wandering on the beach. He was checked for a microchip and all the best attempts to find his original family were made.

Stacey was on duty that day and despite it being love at first sight, Stacey knew that if she even held him for a moment she may never let go and there was still the chance of him being reunited with his original family.

No one came forward to claim him and eventually Stacey caved in. She picked him up never let go! He was given the name Snoopy and went to live his best life with Stacey and her family.

Snoopy is the gentlest of giants and a much loved part of the Nicklin Way Vet family ❤️ Happy International Dog Day, Snoopy!

“Driven to provide the highest standards in service and care with knowledge, compassion and attention to detail.”

Nicklin Way Veterinary Surgery (NWVS), located on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, is independently owned by three local veterinarians, Dr Doug Gray, Dr Hazel Gray and Dr Melanie Irvine. Established in 1989, NWVS has grown with the times and offers everything that you may need for the health and wellbeing for your pets.

Our goal at Nicklin Way Veterinary Surgery is simple – Provide the highest standards in service and care with knowledge, compassion and attention to detail. We deliver this by offering our clients a family owned and operated business with familiar faces and an experienced team with state of the art equipment. We educate our clients about their pet’s condition and offer the best possible treatment as our first option. Our pets needs are met and so are our clients. We believe prevention of disease is better than cure and provide personalised health care programmes for your furry, feathered or scaled family members.

We also understand the importance of social responsibility. We help to support the charity “Four Paws Animal Rescue” by providing veterinary work and medications at very special reduced rates. We have also taken steps to reduce the amount of paper we consume at the practice by utilizing the latest in work flow optimization technology in our hospital which has made our hospital paperless.
