They may seem sweet and tasty, but each time you v**e, you breathe in harmful chemicals.

One of these chemicals is diacetyl, used in popcorn flavourings for its buttery taste.

When eaten, diacetyl is usually harmless. But, when inhaled in large amounts, it can lead to bronchiolitis obliterans, aka 'Popcorn Lung'. 🍿🫁

Bronchiolitis obliterans is a condition that causes inflammation in the airways, leading to scarring and permanent damage. This can make it hard to breathe, and once it occurs, it can't be fixed. 😮‍💨

Putting down the v**e can reduce your risk of long-term damage that you can't repair.

For support to quit, call Quitline on 13 78 48, or visit https://quithq.initiatives.qld.gov.au.

Consider yourself v**e-ducated. 🤓👇

Knowing the facts about va**ng can help you feel more comfortable talking to your child about it.

More young people are va**ng than ever before, so educating your child about the dangers is important. ⚠️

Colourful packaging and fruity flavours make v**es seem fun, but using them can lead to addiction, dependence and other short- and long-term health impacts. 🫣

Things you can do to reduce the chance of your child va**ng:
👉 be a good role model by not engaging in the behaviour
👉 take a stand against it
👉 educate your child about the harms.

If you suspect your child is already va**ng, don't get angry, and try to remain calm. Find out why they find it appealing and have an open discussion. ❤️

For quit smoking or va**ng support — call Quitline on 13 7848 or visit https://va**ngexposed.initiatives.qld.gov.au/information-for-parents-and-carers?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI0svzgre4gQMVuBV7Bx1VRAG0EAAYASAAEgIW5_D_BwE
