If it is winter in your part of the world, here are some tips to ensure your health thrives in the chilly months.

1. As a guideline, avoid cold drinks (Like iced coffee or caffeinated tea- anything iced is terrible for gut health) but drink warming beverages like:

❄️Hot herbal teas

❄️Drink hot water with lemon or limes

❄️Room temperature or above water not out of the fridge

2. As a guideline avoid large amounts of cold, raw foods and have warming foods like:

❄️Soups
❄️Curries
❄️Oats
❄️Pepper, turmeric
❄️Ginger and garlic

3. Take digestive enzymes or apple cider vinegar in warm water with meals.

4. As a guideline avoid snacking on hard to digest foods like:

❄️Nuts
❄️Crackers
❄️Cakes
❄️Lollies
❄️Ice cream after meals
❄️Sweets

5. This is a difficult time to lose weight, I’d strongly suggest not to try during these colder months. Wait until spring.

6. Take care of your Digestive system and liver by eating bitter foods like:

❄️Asparagus
❄️Alfalfa
❄️Celery
❄️Mustard leaf and other bitter green vegetables, lemons, limes, sauerkraut, kimchi, apple cider of vinegar, leek and aduki beans.

The sugar issue is three-fold.

Firstly, it's in everything, so we often consume it unknowingly.

Secondly, it's addictive, so it's hard to stop even if we know we're consuming it.

Thirdly, the digestive system has only 2 receptors that know what to do with sugar, whereas for bitter foods that heal the body, the digestive system has 18 or more receptors.

Processed foods are laden with poison.

Excessive amounts of sugars, salts, trans fats, preservatives and chemicals like MSG.

They have very little nutritive value and it is a bit of a stretch to actually call them a food.

Some of the other shocking ingredients in our foods include:

- Titanium dioxide, which is commonly used in paints and sunscreens, is also found in many salad dressings, coffee creamers and cake icing.
- One of the key ingredients in many canned and fast food chilli is silicon dioxide, also known as sand.
- Lanolin, an oily substance found in sheep’s wool, is an additive used in chewing gum.
- Cellulose, which is actually ground-up wood pulp, is often used as an anti-caking agent in bagged cheeses.
-Sodium bisulfite, a toilet bowl cleaning chemical, is also used in potato chips.

Sadly it is becoming a bit of a hard task to find alternatives, with the amount of processed foods on our supermarket shelves continuously increasing.

But that doesn’t mean you have to choose them.
