International Midwives Day 💛

Today we shine a light on our incredible midwife, Jessica.

Jess walks alongside our women and families with care, kindness and strong cultural respect — making sure every mum, bub and young family feel safe and supported.

Through our Mum’s and Bubs program, Jess helps our community grow strong from the very beginning, keeping that connection to culture at the centre.

Thanks Jess!

Let’s look after our hearts, don’t miss a beat.

This Heart Week, take some time to check in on your heart health.

Having a Heart Health Check is a simple way to see how your heart is going and what you can do to stay strong for yourself, your family, and your community.

Have a yarn with your GP or book in at one of our AMS clinics in Maroochydore or Gympie, ask about a Heart Health Check.

May is Lung Health Awareness Month

There's a new FREE National Lung Cancer Screening Program

It helps find lung cancer early, even before you feel sick. Lung screening is for people who:

✅ Are 50-70 years old and
✅ Have no signs or symptoms of lung cancer and
✅ Currently smoking or quit in the past 10 years and
✅ Have a to***co (Durri) smoking history of 30 pack-years or more

You don't have to quit smoking to do the scan.

Having lung screening every two years is the best way to find lung cancer early. When lung cancer first starts, it has no symptoms. That’s why it’s important to get screened, even if you feel well.

Today we recognise the profound contribution Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have made to Australia.

This Anzac Day we will remember them.

We honour all those who served.

We salute their bravery and sacrifice.

Lest We Forget.

Today we acknowledge International Mother Earth Day.

For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the health of the land is deeply connected to the health of our people. Country is more than a place, it is culture, identity, and wellbeing.

At Manngoor Dja, we recognise the importance of caring for Country and the role it plays in supporting strong, healthy communities. Connection to land, waters, and culture continues to guide our understanding of health and healing.

In light of International Mother Earth Day, yesterday our Maroochydore Elders group created their own bee houses to support bees and pollination in their gardens. They all looked amazing!

*** Walk In Clinic Postponed, a new date will be announced shortly***

Hey all our Gympie mob! Manngoor Dja is running its first walk in ASQ-TRAK2 clinic at the Gympie Family Hub on Thursday the 23rd of April for our jarjums!
(aged 2 months to 5 years only)

What is ASQ-TRAK2?

The ASQ-TRAK (Ages & Stages Questionnaire - Talking about Raising Aboriginal Kids ) is a developmental screening tool for observing and monitoring the developmental progress of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. In 2023, the ASQ-TRAK2 was developed and now includes all 21 age intervals between two months and 5 1/2 years.

The ASQ-TRAK is an easy-to-use, family centered tool which highlights a child’s strengths as well as catching delays early. It is designed to be administered by interview, making caregivers co-observers in the process while supporting and teaching them about child development and their own child’s skills.

How will this help my child?

The ASQ-TRAK (Ages and Stages Questionnaire for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children) benefits children by:
Culturally Appropriate Screening
Early Detection of Developmental Issues
Family Centered Approach
Improved Access to Services
Enhanced Developmental Monitoring

How can I book in?
This is a walk in Clinic so no need to book, for more info, call our AMS team on 07 5237 4499

Our New Brokerage 715 Shirts for 2026 are here!

These stunning shirts were designed by Manngoor Dja’s very own Ebony Burchill-Schonenberger.

“I am very excited to be part of the 2026 715 Shirt Design. I believe it’s incredibly important for Indigenous youth to take control of their health from an early age, and I’m proud to contribute my art to a message that supports that journey.”

Behind The Design
"The inspiration behind my design is Manngoor Dja’s service region. The design visually represents the key road networks that connect our Maroochydore and Gympie AMS, as well as other major roads throughout the region. These connections reflect the geographical relationships and pathways that support service delivery across the area."

Ebony's Artistic Background
"I definitely get my artistic skills from my mum, who has created several Indigenous murals for our community back home in Mossman, Far North Queensland. Many afternoons spent helping her paint murals around the community and in local schools have become very special memories—ones I now cherish and draw inspiration from in my own creative practice."

How to Get a NEW 715 Shirt
Get your hands on your own Manngoor Dja 715 shirt by completing your 715 health check at your regular GP, or at one of our AMS in either Gympie or Maroochydore, then pop in at our Head Office to collect your shirt!
