Welcoming our new Exercise Physiologist Bailey 👋🏼

Bailey grew up in North Queensland 🌴, where he completed a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science, followed by a Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology 🧠.

In 2021, he undertook a five-week university placement on the Sunshine Coast ☀️. After three years of clinical practice in Mackay, he decided to head south to continue his career 📍.

Bailey is passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centred care, with a strong focus on client education 📚. He believes that when people understand the “why” behind their treatment, they’re far more likely to stay motivated and engaged in their health journey 🏃🏼‍♂️💬.

Outside of work, you’ll often find Bailey exploring local coffee shops ☕️ or playing cricket 🏏.

📞 To book in with Bailey, give the clinic a call on 07 5445 8292 or email admin@screp.com.au 📧

Introducing our new Physio Callum!! 👋

Callum completed a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from the University of Otago in 2021.
Callum is passionate about all areas of Physiotherapy, gaining experience in musculoskeletal, acute care, community and post surgical rehab.
Patient advocacy, education and holistic care is at the centre of Callum’s philosophy. The satisfaction and value of working with patients to achieve their goals is what inspired Callum to move back to clinic based work.

Outside of Physio, Callum spends his free time in the outdoors, trail running, hiking and bouldering.

✨ As mentioned last week, menopause can cause reduced pelvic floor muscle tone, and this can continue as we age. ✨I regularly hear in the clinic that people have trouble engaging their pelvic floor muscles or aren’t sure if they’re doing it correctly.

The good news? There are several ways to contract your pelvic floor, and not every cue works for everyone! Finding the right one for you can make all the difference. Here are some cues I like to use to help people visualize their pelvic floor contraction. ⬇️

If you’re noticing changes like leakage, heaviness, or discomfort, know that you don’t have to just put up with it! Checking in with a health professional can help you better understand your symptoms and find the right support. Prioritize your pelvic health—it’s never too late to start! 💛

This month we will be deep diving into menopause and the affects this has on the women’s body. We will highlight the benefits of exercise for alleviating the symptoms of menopause and how our team can help.

So…what is menopause?
Menopause marks the end of a woman's menstrual cycles, typically occurring between ages 45 and 55. Every woman is different and will experience this at different ages. Perimenopause if the time leading up to menopause, and post menopause is the time after menopause. As your body adjusts to lower hormone levels, you may have less menopausal symptoms, or they may even disappear, but some women still experience menopausal symptoms for years after their final period.

We will go through the hormonal changes that women experience during menopause as well as the effects menopause has on cardiovascular, metabolic, musculoskeletal and respiratory function so stay tuned!
