On World Osteoporosis Awareness Day this year, our community came together to connect & learn about osteoporosis, and enjoy a delicious calcium-rich cheese platter sponsored by Woombye Cheese Factory Woombye Cheese Company. Also thank you, IGA Forest Glen! This gathering marked the launch of our “Let’s Chat About Osteoporosis” support and information group!

We’re excited to announce that from now on, we will run this support group for our members once a month. It's a space where we can share experiences, discuss research-based information, and support one another on the journey to better bone health.

Fun fact: We had so much cheese that our Monday classes got to enjoy some too – all while balancing on a Bosu ball!

Here are some important facts about osteoporosis:
📌 Osteoporosis weakens bones, making them more brittle and prone to fractures.
📌 It usually develops gradually and often shows no symptoms until a fracture occurs.
📌 1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men over 50 will experience a fracture in their lifetime.
📌 Only 20% of patients with osteoporotic fractures are ever diagnosed or treated for the disease.

We look forward to welcoming more of our members to our future group meetups!

As Mental Health Awareness Week comes to an end, it’s important to recognise that 42.9% of Australians aged 16-85 have experienced a mental health disorder at some point in their lives. For those living with a physical health condition like osteoporosis, the risk of mental distress—and mental health disorders such as anxiety and depression—is significantly higher.

On World Mental Health Day (October 10th), the Nordica Health community came together for a gentle yoga and relaxation session to support our members. Led by Bronwyn, a dedicated mental health nurse and passionate yoga teacher, the session was a beautiful reminder of the importance of nurturing both mind and body on this meaningful day 🌻

At Nordica Health, we are committed to providing ongoing support to our community, ensuring that individuals living with osteoporosis feel empowered and informed in managing their health. We believe that caring for both physical and mental well-being is essential, and our practices are thoughtfully designed to address both aspects of health.

Let’s continue raising awareness of the powerful connection between physical and mental health, and how we can support one another on this journey. 💙

𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐧 𝐈𝐝𝐞𝐚

What started as a simple idea in my head sparked curiosity, possibilities, excitement, and some hesitation. After sharing it with others, and fast forward 2-3 months, we now have a team, sponsors, a fundraiser landing page, and social media platforms to share our journey!

Our journey mirrors the 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞:

𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: The idea of participating in the Max Adventure race or raising money for chronic pain wasn’t even on our radar.

𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠: We’re organising training schedules, deciding when and how to train together, and lining up all necessary elements.

𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: We'll fully enter this stage when we sign up for the race, book training sessions, and actively train and share our journey.

𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞: Sustaining our new behaviour, engaging with supporters, and maintaining our fundraising momentum.

𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐩𝐬𝐞: We may face setbacks, but we'll use these moments to learn and recommit.
Follow our journey and support us in raising awareness and funds for chronic pain!
