At The Ormsby today on Anzac Day, we came together to honour the spirit of ANZAC, a time of reflection, remembrance, and deep respect for those who served and sacrificed.
Our service was made especially meaningful with the presence of our veterans, heartfelt readings, and a moving wreath-laying tribute. Together, residents, staff, and special guests created a beautiful and respectful ceremony.
Many of our residents carry strong personal and family connections to wartime service - across generations, countries, and roles. Today, we honoured not only those who served on the front lines, but also those who supported behind the scenes: the medics, nurses, volunteers, and families whose resilience helped shape history.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to this special service and helped keep the ANZAC spirit alive within our community.
Lest we forget. 🌺

Our Superhero Party was a joyful celebration of the real heroes among us—our residents, staff, families, and volunteers. Filled with laughter, music, and connection, the day recognised strength, resilience, and kindness. It reminded us that true superpowers aren’t found in capes, but in the care, compassion, and stories we share every day. A great way to celebrate The Ormsby 7th Birthday!

Today, Saturday 25 April, our communities across Australia are coming together to commemorate Anzac Day on the 111th anniversary of the Gallipoli landings. For many, this whole week has been about reflecting and honouring those who have served in times of peace and war.

We were lucky enough to sit down with several veterans in the lead up to today and are honoured to be sharing their stories of resilience, comradery and hope.

As we wrap up March and look forward to Easter our memories of the month are highlighted by St Patrick’s Day and the true meaning about faith, renewal and Irish heritage. As most of our residents have Irish heritage it was a day to share as a community and to remember the importance of “laughter” when times are seem tough.

Celebrating St Patrick’s Day at The Ormsby promotes social connection, cultural appreciation, and enjoyment for our residents. Activities such as Irish music, themed decorations, and shared food encourage participation, stimulate memories, and support emotional wellbeing while creating a festive, inclusive atmosphere within the care community. Here, the ladies made shamrocks and loved hanging outside their doors!

Today is International Women’s Day, and we’re recognising the foundational role women have played in our organisation, from its beginnings to the present. From Lady Janet Clarke’s tireless commitment to rallying government and community support for those most in need, to Prime Minister Alfred Deakin’s wife Pattie who accompanied our early nurses on their rounds, to our 16,000+ workforce today, Bolton Clarke has been shaped by the vision, hard work and expertise of generations of women across leadership, support and frontline care services.

“It’s a wrap!” For our Live, Love and Shine program here at The Ormsby and the Lifestyle Team and residents want to thank our artistic and creative facilitator’s for their wonderful work they do here at The Ormsby. Darren, of Catchy Music, comes in on Monday afternoons and Friday mornings and with his guitar, he sings along with our residents in their neighbourhood lounges, rooms and wherever he is required to use the magic of music to put a smile on someone’s face. Anna comes in with her basket of tricks and within moments of someone saying “I’m not artistic” she helps them produce a work of art bringing smiles back again. Anna also does her creative movement and within seconds a person moves a limb using muscles they thought they never had. Looking forward to another fun year ahead with Anna and Darren - glad to have you both on the Team!!!
