Scott and I both have a well established yoga practice which we have being practicing for many years now and is part of our daily routine,

While group class can be helpful perhaps as a starting point for some, the social component or the need for motivation,

One of the biggest draw cards for us when we started Ayurveda was learning how to eat well for the long term. As vegetarians we were looking for a thorough way of eating to maintain good health,

Today we highlight 9 key points of an Ayurvedic diet ..

1) Ayurvedic diet is light and easy to digest, giving the body less work to digest its meals has the by product of sustained energy throughout the day, less cravings and feeling satisfied after meals

2) cooking with spice assists with better absorption of nutrients, improved digestion (supporting Agni) and keeping the doshas in balance

3) Ayurvedic diet is modified according to the season, digestive strength of the individual, age and lifestyle requirements

4) Ayurveda recommends cooking with ghee which further assists in the absorption of nutrients and nourishes all the bodily tissues

5) when the diet supports the bodily functions it allows for timely elimination of wastes on a daily basis reducing build up of toxins in the body

6) When we place importance on keeping the Agni (digestion) optimal it changes the way we look at food and gives us a deeper respect for the internal functions going on inside us

7) the principles of an ayurvedic diet are Unchanging no need to follow fads or trends timeless wisdom that delivers

8) Ayurvedic meals are sattvic in nature giving a feeling of calm in the mind

The essence of a sound yoga practice and particularly in a therapeutic context is the use of the breath.
The breath can be utilised in many different ways adaptable for the individualโ€™s needs and requirements, previous experience and any limitations.

Meaning in a therapeutic yoga session the breath can be used in specific ways to improve lung function and quality of breath such as in asthma, long standing respiratory illness, worry, or stress, poor posture.

Todayโ€™s offering is 2 centring breathing practices to calmly energise.

Best practices first thing in the morning before the day ahead.

For pursed lip breathing breath out as is breathing through a straw creating a long slow smooth exhale in thru the nose,
12 rounds

Excellent for feelings of stress worry, thought chest from asthma or needing to learn how to exhale fully,
