Welcome to the October edition of Cranes and Lifting

This month, we share a story that captures the heart and humanity of our industry. When Membrey’s Transport and Crane Hire took delivery of Franna’s 2000th MAC25, it became more than a milestone – it became a message of hope.

For Managing Director Craig Membrey, the crane carries a deeply personal legacy: the memory of his son, Rowan, and a reminder that talking about mental health can save lives.

Working closely with Franna’s General Manager Danny Black and with the support of Beyond Blue, Craig saw his vision realised as the milestone crane was finished in Beyond Blue livery. The full story of this moving collaboration is featured in this issue.

We also look at the National Conference and Exhibition hosted by the Crane Industry Council of Australia (CICA). With record attendance and a strong field of entries for the Lift of the Year awards, this year’s event builds on the strength, innovation, and camaraderie within the lifting community.

Rounding out this edition, we present our first in-depth feature on Queensland’s crane sector, highlighting the businesses driving growth across the state and showcasing their latest fleet additions.

Atrocious to think our country allows people to desecrate our History and heritage by burning our Nation's flag with no consequences. Our Anzacs died under this flag. Everyone should sign this.

Over 14,000 Aussies have had enough. Have you?

Our flag stands for who we are, our history, our values, and the sacrifices of those who built and defended this great country.

Burning it is a symbolic threat of violence against our people. It’s an act of aggression and a disgraceful attack on everything good and decent Australia stands for.

Australians are sick of it. They’ve had enough of the disrespect and the threats. That’s why I’m calling on Parliament to make it an offence to burn or desecrate the Australian flag.

Happy Birthday Origin Cranes !
Today we have been in Business for 8 years.

What a ride it's been. With a humble start with 2 x 20t frannas bought at an auction we have now increased the fleet to 13 Cranes, 3 Trucks and a fleet of support Ute's. With our 2 x 100 tonners heading fleet.

Firstly we would like to thank all our clients we have accumulated over the years. Your support has been tremendous and we look forward to servicing your needs in the future.

Secondly , Our office Staff, Mel and Mieke and support crew, who do the grind on accounts and wages. Your dedication is very much appreciated and recognised.

3rd, To Mark ( Happy birthday for this week mate) our McGivor Mechanic who constantly blows us away keeping gear up to scratch. Your work ethic is the best we have ever had and love the way you perform...miracles constantly. You're a legend.

4th . Mitch, Jules and Marty who make it all happen behind the scenes. We love your loyalty and efforts you put into keeping everything running smoothly and is never noticed but we do.

Lastly . The crane crew. All our operators and riggers/Dogman are top blokes. Love the camaraderie and everyone is so level headed. No big heads amongst you, you guys just get the job done. It is a credit to you all. We recieve so many calls from clients to express their gratitude on the great job you guys do. After being in the game for so long, this is the best and most constant leveled headed bunch of blokes I have worked with. It makes us very proud to have you at Origin and as mates.

**Key Responsibilities:**

- Assist our experienced mechanic with repairs, servicing, and preventive maintenance of our fleet which includes cranes, trucks, and light vehicles.
- Support operations in roles such as do***ng, driving trucks, and electrical spotting as needed.
- Participate in training and development sessions to gain industry-related certifications, including but not limited to HR license and high-risk Dogman license.

**Ideal Candidate:**

- Currently a 2nd-year apprentice in mechanics or an individual with strong mechanical aptitude looking to enter the industry.
- Keen interest in specializing in hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and overall vehicle maintenance.
- Possess or willing to obtain necessary industry certifications.
- Reliable and committed to a long-term career opportunity.
- Excellent teamwork skills and a flexible attitude towards a dynamic work environment.
