It's easy to dismiss the TMJ, but if you're treating clients with headaches, neck or shoulder pain, the TMJ should always be part of your clinical reasoning process.

Facial muscle tightness is of the most common complaints that I hear of when seeing clients with TMJ symptoms. Habits such as chewing on pens/pencils, biting nails, chewing gum and clenching, often cause the jaw muscles to work harder than they need to which often leads to other symptoms.
