The Eatwise Clinic The Eatwise Clinic
Experienced Dietitians, Evidence Based Advice, Practical Strategies We believe in evidence-based advice delivered with practical strategies.

SS Diets are made up of a team of experienced dietitians who love food and have a mission to provide you with correct guidance in all things food. We have all spent time in major acute care hospitals in Sydney and collectively have over 60 years of experience working as dietitians. We keep up to date with changes in scientific research and both food trends and social media focus points (sometimes

justified, other times completely off the mark and confusing). At SS Diets we believe in overall healthy, sustainable, filling plans – full of fruits, vegetables, lean proteins and high-quality carbohydrates. We will never recommend a plan that is not supported by scientific evidence. We’re Accredited Practising Dietitians, University trained professionals and registered members of Dietitians Australia.

Australia Day is fast approaching and traditionally, a lot of Aussies are planning on including lamb in their Aus Day feast. If this is you, check out this Lamb, Beetroot & Feta Salad - it's super tasty and will be a big BBQ hit! It also happens to be gluten-free 🥳.

Note: If you're not a fan of lamb, you can substitute with a solid few pieces of salmon or barramundi seasoned with a simple store-bought pesto.

GORD stands for Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease and is usually associated with excessive exposure of the oesophagus to gastric acid. Acid reflux occurs through a relatively incompetent lower oesophageal sphincter that is commonly associated with hiatus hernia. Under normal circumstances, acid reflux is prevented by the contraction of the lower oesophageal sphincter together with muscular activity within the lower oesophagus which clears the refluxed contents back to the stomach.

Often lifestyle factors are the cause of heartburn. These need to be addressed and will vary between individuals. In general, avoidance of high-fat diets, excessive coffee and alcohol and other caffeine-containing drinks together with stopping smoking are just a few ways to reduce or stop GORD.
