Exercise therapy results in significantly greater reduction in pain. end disability. in the long term. However large individual variability raises uncertainty in the effect as indicated by wide confidence intervals. (April 2026 published by MSK Science and Practice).

I come across many clients who feel anxious about starting treatment or starting an exercise program. Reasons being, “would my pain get worse?, it might make things worse? Better leave it alone and not ask for trouble.” The problem will simply not go away however, and 1 month later or sometimes years later, that pain still lingers, because we haven’t addressed the root issue. Physiotherapy helps to make referral to appropriate medical avenues before starting treatment so we can get a clear picture of what we are dealing with. Manual therapy combined with exercise therapy helps to chip away the problem. And starting treatment or an exercise program does not have to be absolutely perfect when you begin. There will be roadblocks and hiccups but it’s what you do after that matters. Don’t be discouraged and keep moving in the right direction.

This was taken the week we had thick fog in the early mornings. I know it isn’t everyone’s favourite time of the year but having grown up in London, UK, winter feels like Home. And I find thick fog - spectacularly beautiful. Was a great day to reach out to remote towns and I got to meet some beautiful people in high need of Physiotherapy input. Win Win!

NDIS will be cutting travel charges by 50% and for those in rural and remote areas, this will directly impact Allied Health providers. Many have simply opted to stop providing services because they won’t be able to cover their basic expenses of running their services. Result: NDIS clients will not be receiving much needed allied health treatment such as Speech therapy, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Dietetics. Allied health services like physiotherapy can be life-changing for NDIS participants, but new government pricing arrangements mean services that need to travel to clients may be too expensive.

It can sometimes feel like a big treasure hunt during Physiotherapy assessments because we are constantly looking for clues, and ruling things out as we get more. Sometimes we have to think outside of the box, because manual therapy and exercise therapy are not enough. Changes to your lifestyle, developing new routines, seeking additional help can prevent muscle tension from re-building up and re-occurring.

TA Physiotherapy is constantly keeping up with the high clinical needs of individuals across the rural communities in the Mallee region. One of them is Lymphoedema, which is often overlooked by medical professionals. Sadly many are told that there is nothing that can be done about it, given that there is no medical “cure” for this progressive condition. However, there is a LOT that a Physiotherapist - Lymphoedema Specialist can do about this!
