“Zou Huo Ru Mo” (走火入魔), often translated as “Qi Deviation” or “Possessed by Fire and Demons,” refers to the dangerous consequences of excessive or improper training in martial arts, internal cultivation (Neigong), or spiritual practices. It is a concept commonly found in wuxia novels, xianxia stories, and discussions about qigong. In reality, it can metaphorically describe physical and psychological imbalances caused by obsessive training or practice.
Over the decades, cases of severe overtraining that lead to untimely deaths have always bothered me tremendously.
