Sometimes clients sit in front of me and start with:

“I don’t even know why I’m upset… nothing that bad happened.”

And I gently tell them —
pain is not measured by the size of the event,
it’s measured by the size of the emotion you had to hold by yourself.

You didn’t need something “dramatic” to struggle.

Being unheard as a child
Being dismissed when you were scared
Having to be the strong one too early
Feeling like your emotions were inconvenient

These don’t look like trauma from the outside.

But your nervous system remembers what your life had to normalize.

So if you feel sensitive…
If you overthink…
If small things trigger big reactions…

Your mind isn’t broken.
It’s unfinished processing.

Healing isn’t convincing yourself it didn’t matter.

Healing is finally allowing yourself to feel —
it actually did.

We’re taught that being “smart” is the ultimate flex. But for many, it’s the very thing keeping them stuck in cycles of anxiety and broken relationships.

Why? Because you can’t “logic” your way out of a feeling. Using IQ to solve an emotional problem is like using a calculator to write a poem—it’s the wrong tool for the job.

Un-learning negative thought patterns can be hard but it’s not impossible. Just as we learn to walk slowing by stumbling, falling but eventually we learn to walk then run. It works the same way.
