The fascia foot roll - it’s not just for plantar fasciitis (though it’s super helpful for that!).

This exercise supports mobility, inflammation, stress, nervous system, fascia regeneration and so much more, all just within a few minutes. Even kids can do it!

Fun fact👨‍🔬 If you want how effective this is, before the exercise, try to bend at your waist and touch the floor, seeing how far you can reach. Then do 1-2 minutes of foot rolling and repeat the bend, and watch how much further you can bend! 👀

The battle between brain and body can be real.

In my experience as both a therapist and client, the most effective massages are those that are responsive to the tissues, muscles, body, nervous system and whole human on the day.

Two things can be true, and both should be considered when planning the most effective treatment session.

When you dig a little deeper into the science it comes back to the simple things - goodness.

🍎 Good food
🏊‍♀️ Good movement
😴 Good sleep
🤗 Good connections
😮‍💨 Good breathing
🎳 Good play
☀️ Good time in nature

Maybe try some more goodness and see how that feels. It just may be exactly what you need. ✨

Tense or raised shoulders.
Racing heart.
Sense of constant pressure.
Feeling on edge.
Constantly scanning for threats.

These can all be signals that your body doesn’t feel safe. While there may not be an obvious threat present, your survival reflex has been triggered and your body is preparing to run or fight.

Your nervous system state impacts the story in your mind. So if you notice yourself experiencing stress, you can release this survival energy, meet your needs for safety, and watch your responses change.

Start small.
Do some star jumps.
Put some energetic music on and dance it out (literally - shake it off).
Go for a quick walk.
Then, slowly turn your head from side to side, noticing the signs of safety. Normal everyday sounds, birds singing, sunshine, clouds.

Move your body, and see how it changes your mind and nervous state.

It may look strange 👀 but it works!!

The basic exercise from Dr Stanley Rosenberg is great for reconnecting with your state of balance and flow, rest and digest, safe and social; thereby releasing stress.

Super quick, super easy; great to use when stressed, as a self calming tool before a big meeting, or a daily practice.

You may even notice an increase in your neck movements (or a reduction of pain and restriction) after this exercise.

Give it a go and see what it does for you.

I love how the Lilo and Stitch movie took Ohana to another level that I bet mums everywhere can relate to.

That being family doesn’t just mean no one is left behind or forgotten; but that we also don’t abandon ourselves or leave our dreams and goals behind also.
