Today is World Cerebral Palsy Day.
Cerebral Palsy is a group of disorders that affect movement and parts of the body. Often, the condition affects posture, walking, muscle and coordination. Depending on how it is managed, cerebral palsy may worsen over time.
Concept Care offers assistance to those living with cerebral palsy. We take the time to understand the severity of each individual condition so that we have the right resources to support. Whether it be home care, personal care or out of hospital care, we are here to meet you or your loved one's needs.
October 6th is a day where we can come together as a community and celebrate, love and support those living with cerebral palsy. It is important that we bring awareness, bring focus and educate those outside of the community about this condition.

The month of October is dedicated to raising awareness on a number of health issues affecting Australians every day.

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month, a time to celebrate people with Down syndrome and make others aware of their abilities and accomplishments.

It is also Polio Awareness Month, dedicated to increasing the wider community's knowledge about the late effects of Polio/Post Polio Syndrome. It's an opportunity to raise the profile of Australia's polio community and highlight the success of strategies in reducing the spread of the disease.

Last but not least, this month is also dedicated to raising awareness and promoting better mental health throughout Australia, in light of Mental Health Month. This year's theme is 'Tune In', which encourages everyone to take a moment to Tune In to their senses, communities and stigma.

How will you be observing these Health Awareness events?

It’s always important to look after your mental health, especially during these trying times.

There’s no better day to start than on Sunday the 15th – National Relaxation Day

Take a break from social media, go for a walk, do some stretches, read a book, call a family member, or talk to your Concept Care support worker.

We understand the importance of maintaining your safety with tighter restrictions. At Concept Care, we are now doing telephone and video calls for participants who would like virtual support during this difficult time.
If you or a loved one would like to enquire about our online supports, please call us on 188 266 237.

This week is National Stroke Week.
It aims to bring awareness to the long- and short-term effects of those who have experienced a stroke. It also aims to celebrate those who are first and fast responders when recognising a stroke.

There are 4 things to look out for when recognising a stroke.
1. Face - has their face dropped?
2. Arms - can they lift both arms?
3. Speech - is their speech slurred and do they understand you?
4. Time - call 000 as time is critical.
At Concept Care, we support those who are living with the long-term effects of a stroke and provide them with specialised support, enabling them to achieve their goals and dreams.

Tony is just one of our participants who we support that has long-term effects after a stroke. Concept Care assists Tony to ensure his yard is maintained the way he likes and provide domestic assistance to keep his home tidy and safe from trip hazards. In April we assisted Tony with a presentation to his Stroke Support Group to educate them on what supports are available.

We just love this candid shot of Titan and his care worker Rama.

Titan is a gorgeous 13 year old, who just loves sports and it just so happens that his care worker, Rama, shares the same passion. Titan is extremely passionate about swimming and water play, often finding it calming and soothing.

Rama loves going to the park with Titan, stopping for lunch on the way, exploring the surrounds and finishing the day off with a game of football.

We especially love engaging with Titan during water play. Water play is a type of sensory play that is ideal for children with autism, helping them socialize, communicate, regulate their emotions and build their coordination skills.

We are grateful to be a part of Titan's NDIS journey, by providing him community access and social supports allowing Titan to meet his goals.

Every Tuesday Grant and his support worker Mishael head down to the local river and go fishing.

Grant has a real passion for fishing, it allows him to relax and let go of any cares or worries and, in turn gives Grant the opportunity to decompress and appreciate the beauty and joy a day on the water provides.

We have the privilege of providing Grant with community access helping him to continue his recreational hobby.
