šŸ“£ANNOUNCEMENT! I’m SUPER proud to share that Healthy Active Pet has officially been acquired by Frontier Pets Pet Food which is an Australian leader in sustainable and science-backed pet nutrition (https://frontierpets.com.au/RHIANIF15)

When I launched Healthy Active Pet in 2023, my mission was simple: to improve the long-term health of dogs and cats through real, whole, high-protein food - and to do this via a combination of raw feeding recipes and freeze dry dog food and to educate pet owners about the power of nutrition for our pets.

Seeing that mission now carried forward by a company that shares those values is something I am extremely happy and proud about.

I met Di, the founder of Frontier Pets, several years ago, and it was immediately clear that she had built a remarkable company with Frontier Pets and was extremely passionate about the health of pets.

Her team is leading the way in sustainable, Australian-made pet nutrition, freeze dried pet food and proving that you can create exceptional products without compromising science or quality.

Frontier Pets’ freeze-dried dog and cat food offers:
āœ…The nutritional benefits of a raw diet
āœ…Made locally in Queensland
āœ…Fully traceable, sustainably sourced ingredients
āœ…Direct support to free-range farmers doing things the right way

As someone who has spent years educating pet owners on why whole food and high protein matter, it’s powerful to see this mission accelerate under a company with such strong integrity, purpose and innovation.

This acquisition isn’t the end of the story — it’s the beginning of a much bigger one.

I’ll continue championing the message of real food for pets and supporting the community we’ve built together.
And if you want to check our Frontier's range you can here (and save 15% on their range) https://frontierpets.com.au/RHIANIF15

Thank you to everyone who has supported Healthy Active Pet, believed in the mission, and helped move the industry forward. Together, we’re contributing to healthier, happier pets — and a better future for the pet food sector in Australia.

Here’s to innovation, sustainable business, and a new era with Frontier Pets.

We are big advocates of feeding a raw and fresh diet. It’s the way nature intended for them to eat.

Modern pet food doesn’t resemble anything even vaguely like what our dogs and cats would eat if they had any say in it, and they’ve never been fatter or sicker for it.

A raw food diet supports their health and wellbeing by providing a steady stream of highly digestible and bioavailable macronutrients, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, antioxidants and water to ensure your pet thrives, not just survives.

A species appropriate diet is a diet that is well suited to the metabolic capabilities of your dog’s digestive system.
Dogs are closely related to wolves, who are well established predators that thrive on a prey-based diet of primarily other small animals.

They have no need for carbohydrates and are poorly equipped to digest them for a number of reasons. The most obvious tell-tale signs are in the canine mouth. Unlike truly omnivorous creatures (like humans), dogs and wolves have sharp, pointy canines and molars that are designed for hunting, ripping and crunching in a way that our flat molars and jaws simply aren’t.

They can’t move their jaws horizontally, meaning they have difficulty grinding fibrous foods (which is why kibble in vomit is always still whole!), and in fact they don’t even produce the digestive enzymes required to break down carbohydrates in their saliva (salivary amylase).

Making the switch to a fresh diet is a big change for your dog and hopefully everything goes smoothly. Sometimes you will encounter hiccups along the way but don’t worry, it’s fairly normal and there are almost always ways to overcome them.

If your dog has been digesting one kind of food for a long time and we suddenly switch to a completely new food, it can be a bit of a shock to the system. The best way to combat or avoid this is to introduce new foods slowly, and transition across to their new meal plan over a week or so, reducing the old food and gradually increasing the portion of new food. Adding organ meats last is a good idea, as they can trigger an upset tum.

Fortunately, the gut microbiome adapts very quickly and this should resolve itself in no time. You can speed this process along by including small amounts of fermented foods, the homemade bone broth, or by adding a course of probiotics or digestive enzymes to help with the transition period.
