When you first begin to connect with your body, mindfulness practice gives you the steps and presence for you to become the observer.

When you become the observer you begin to notice the sensations within your body, the sensations outside of your body, the way your breath moves throughout your body, the feelings that arise, and the thoughts that begin to come to mind.

When you become the observer and notice these sensations, feelings, and thoughts, that’s when you can become curious and begin to start the journey of question and investigation helping you get to the root cause. When you become the observer you start the process of your healing journey and the journey within. When you begin to connect with your body you learn to understand the language it speaks and what it needs to come back to a balanced state.

How are you being mindful today?

When we become curious to the feelings, sensations, emotions, and thoughts we experience we are able to bring calmness and hold a place for these feelings and sensations to be recognised and transformed.

When we are able to become curious, stop and listen to the signals and signs our bodies are sending us, we are able to change course and direction bringing us back to an aligned state, allowing the body to feel safe again.

One of our core needs as humans is the need for safety. When we are able to bring safety to ourselves and our bodies, we are able to regulate. Regulate our nervous system and our emotions and in this sense become stronger and more resilient to handling life stresses when they do arise.

However bringing a sense of safety to the body always starts and begins with the ability to become mindful and to stop and listen, paying attention with purpose. Asking questions and becoming familiar, befriending our bodies is the beginning to bringing back safety and regulation to our bodies.

So next time you are feeling overwhelm, stress, or anxiety, take a moment, a pause in time, and mindfulness practice to stop and listen to what your body needs and is asking of you.

Things I have learnt along the way, is there is no cookie cutter approach to life, to being, and to creating who you desire to be, and no one can tell you who or what that is.

It’s about your discernment. It’s about how you listen to your body. Your intuition. The feelings in your gut and heart.

This is where your right path is, and your individuality lies. Trusting your own knowing to lead you to the right fit, the right path, and the right way of being that is right for you.

You are created as 1 in 8 billion and no one’s path is ever going to be the same as yours, or know it as well as you do. But it all starts with learning how to connect back to you and becoming curious with the world within you, and around you.

The interconnectedness of our healing is never one aspect and never just one symptom. And it is never just about treating the one symptom and the one aspect.

Our healing is taking into consideration all parts and aspects of our lives. Our societal relationships, the food we eat, our relationship to ourselves, our past experiences, our life choices, and more.

So when you look at your healing you need to look at all the interconnected aspects that you play a part of. Healing is never about the one thing but a holistic culmination of all the different things that make up and have been part of your life.

Healing is never linear but healing is a the understanding of the connectedness to all things. Healing takes time and is the greatest journey you will undertake to understanding the true you and all the different aspects of you that make you, you.

As individuals with different energy types, each of us possesses a unique energy signature that influences both how we use our energy and our ability to collaborate with these energies. Just because we adhere to a particular work style doesn't mean we don’t run the risk of burnout or impacting our nervous systems.

Understanding your energy type extends beyond just recognizing your work approach; it involves delving into the intricacies of your nervous system. This knowledge empowers you to understand your energy signature, and ensures you are working with your energy with flow, ease, and a regulated nervous system.

When we start to pay attention to how we use our energy type signature we start to really hone in and navigate how we choose to take part in life and how we can take part in life in the best way for our body, mind, soul, and nervous system.

28/12/2023

Connecting to the body and beginning the journey of mindful practice allows you to become an observer, it allows you to become a witness to the emotions as they flow through and become experienced through the body.

This conscious awareness allows you to explore your emotions emphasising the importance of acknowledgement without entanglement. This allows each emotion, rather than being suppressed or dominated, to flow through you.

In the mindful body connection, you begin the transformative connection between the mind and the body, where the ebb and flow of emotions and act of becoming an observe becomes part of your healing journey.

The beauty lies in the art of acknowledging, rather than resisting, the emotions that shape the inner landscape.

Are you allowing yourself to become the observer?

Regulating your nervous system is a continued practice. It is not something that you do once that makes you feel grounded and back at peace. It is a ritual that you do in honour of your body and of yourself to come back to you.

And although it’s a practice, and something you have to train just like a muscle, not every day needs to be the same. Some days you may need to use your breath, some days you may need to move your body, some days you may need to spend time in nature, and some days you may need to spend the days in silence.

There is no one size fits all and not every day is the same. But it’s about how you choose to connect with your body that will give you the regulation you need. It’s how you practice your connection and the continued asking of yourself ‘what does my body need right now?’ And ‘what do I need in this moment?’ that brings you back to your peace and grounding.

What are you needing in this moment?

A few little reminders for you and your healing journey as each journey is individual and goes through many layers and ups and downs. These are here to remind you, you are not alone and your healing and health always matter, even when you can’t see it on the physical 🙏🏻🙏🏻

We are all unique, individual, and made in our own unique way. What may work for one person, may not work for you. And what works for you, may not work for the other person.

We have our own special physiology, genetics, emotional responses, thoughts, and habits that we have created to suit ourselves and allow us to function as best as we know how.

When you connect and tune into your body you learn just how individual and unique you are. You learn how you respond to stimulus, and you learn what your needs, wants, and likes are.

Because you and your body are like no other being in this earth, and when you find how you work and what works for you, you become so deeply connected to your individuality, power and strength as a sovereign being.

How are you claiming your individuality?

In a journey of the body, and a journey of healing, my body has taught me not only the ups and downs but the teachings and lessons along the way.

My body has taught me to trust. Trust in alignment. Trust in the body’s abilities. Trust in the body’s messages and trusting to surrender to the process that is happening.

My body has taught me consciousness. Conscious awareness of my choices, of my habits, decisions and even the places and people I allow my body to experience. My body has taught me the consciousness of becoming aware of it’s internal dialogue and not to ignore the signs.

My body has taught me slow. It has taught me the appreciation for slow. That life is not needing to be rushed and that progress still can be made in just the right time. It has taught me the value of slow living, the beauty of a slow life. A slow rest and that all things have their time and season to cycle through. It has taught me the slow living to accepting and being in the now.

In your healing and in your journey, what has your body taught you?

07/11/2023

SURRENDER: for me, having a chronic condition, my biggest lesson has been in learning the wisdom of surrender. Surrendering to the forces that I cannot control. Surrendering to my own body’s healings, its signs and signals, and surrendering to my body’s processes, its inner wisdom and its inner states of flow it needs to go through.

Surrendering has taught me I cannot force or instruct my body to do what I want it to do, or behave in the way I want it to behave. Surrendering has taught me the art of honouring my body’s needs.

It has taught me the need for going into my own inner world, reflecting on my choices, my inner words and thoughts and my belief systems. It has taught me to honour my path, honour my boundaries, and honouring the choices that I need to make for my body’s health, even when my mind is telling me otherwise.

Surrendering has taught me to make peace with my body and how to calm my mind. It has taught me the voice of my mind versus the voice of my body and how to integrate the two. Surrendering has taught me to speak with kindness and compassion to myself and those around me that have their own journeys at hand.

Surrender has taught me that not everyone will agree with my choices but my health comes first. Surrender has taught me about the things that needed to get done can wait. Surrender has taught me that there is always a bigger plan at play.

Surrender has been my greatest challenge but my greatest learning in honouring the forever constant of change with grace and ease.

Surrender is knowing that there is no constant but that everything will be okay.

06/11/2023

Our bodies love movement, so when we connect and allow our bodies to move the way they want to, your body becomes better at its function. Your internal organs start to work better, your immune system improves, your mood changes, you bring oxygen into your body, and you give life back to your body.

When we become stagnant and immobile we deny our bodies the right for them to work at their optimal best. When we become stagnant our bodies contract and become rigid, blocking the movement and flow within them, stalling and putting on hold its internal processes.

Our bodies were designed to move and in movement becomes your body’s way to healing.

As a Bowen Therapist we always recommend movement after your session to help release fascia, lubricate joints, to bring the body back into it’s alignment, increase lymphatic function, and allow the body’s organs to pump blood and nutrients all around the body. Movement brings healing and health back to your body.

Movement doesn’t need to hard, strenuous, or exhausting. The idea is to just get your body moving and expressing itself the way it wants to. All type of movement is always good movement when it feels right for your body.

Our bodies are designed to move. Our bodies are designed to transform and our bodies are designed as alchemical vehicles to our inner world.

Share below with how you are letting your body move?

Connecting to your body does not have to be an arduous task or something that you need to dedicate specific time to.

Connecting to your body is about noticing the everyday day-to-day feelings, signs, and signals it expresses.

This can be with feelings, or actual physical responses, such as your body contracting away from something that it does not align to, or to your stomach rumblings when you are hungry. It’s really just about checking in, and picking up on the signs the body is sending you.

The simple ways of integrating body connection and learning how your body is talking to you by:

1. Tuning into what food it wants to eat - sometimes this can be through a physical response such as an excited and buzzing feeling.
2. Noticing the areas in the body that feel tight - paying attention to particular parts of your body and the tension it holds can help you understand where you may be storing emotions or your body needing a release.
3. Becoming aware of your body sensations - learning how your body talks to you can be by simply noticing what it feels like when your thirsty, to the feelings you feel in your body when your excited, or noticing the areas that may be sending you pain signals.
4. Noticing how your body feels around different people and places - does your body feel good to be around certain people or in certain places, or do certain places and people cause your body to feel tight, constricted and overwhelmed?

Noticing these little things can help you build your body connection and enable you to become more discerning about where you are placing your energies.

What body signals are you noticing?

So how does Bowen therapy help the emotional body?

- Switches the nervous system response - When we feel stressed, overwhelmed, or anxious our nervous system senses there is a threat in our environment and turns on its fight or flight response. If stressors are prolonged enough, the nervous system can keep this response going in a loop. Bowen Therapy works directly on the nervous system response by activating nerve receptors within the body that tell the body to relax and release. Making the switch from a sympathetic to parasympathetic response that allows your feelings of stress, overwhelm, and anxiety to came back to balance, promoting grounding and calmness.
- Releases stored emotions - When emotions come up in our every day life, they carry energy. Sometimes this energy can move through our system, and sometimes that energy can become stored in different parts of our body. Neck pain can signal carrying stress and overwhelm. Lower back issues can be a signal of insecurity. And stomach issues can be sources of anxiety and worry. As Bowen Therapy works directly on the fascia that constricts around muscles and organs when we feel emotions, releasing the constriction of the fascia tissue helps to release the pent up emotions we have been feeling and keeping stored within the different parts of our body. Allowing release and a re-calibration back to feeling more centered.
- Creating emotional awareness - Bowen Therapy is a physical hands on technique. When you receive a Bowen Therapy session you begin to notice the areas your body has been holding onto tension. You begin to question when did this tension start, what caused this tension to come up during what we may have experienced in our every day lives. Being aware of these areas and making a link to the how, when, what, and where can help in the acknowledgement of feelings that have been coming up for us around these areas. As Bowen Therapy releases these physical areas there is also an awareness to what emotions needed to be released and the feelings that come up after the release.

19/10/2023

As we evolve as a consciousness, our ways to relating to ourselves and the world around us is also changing. We are now beginning to be more consciousness of what we are taking in from our environments and what we are emitting out. We are beginning to open to our inner and outer worlds with more reverie and using our senses to guide us forward.

We are moving to a new age of where logical thinking and the workings of the mind may not be our only solutions, but working towards feeling our way to new solutions.

Learning to navigate and feel how we feel within ourselves, towards the environments we are in, and the type of people we have relationships with are the new ways of how we are beginning to not only see the world but how we place our energies and values into.

Feeling is our new way of creating balance. It is our new way of navigate the world, discerning between right and wrong, and what is good and bad for us. Feeling is the act of rebellion against the orders and constructs of the mind we keep ourselves chained to. Feeling is the new way forward of relating to ourselves and to others. It’s noticing the subtle nuances within us and the sensations that we received from the outside. Feeling is our path to consciousness evolution and awareness.

How are you feeling?

How do you feel about your surroundings?

How do you feel about the people you are with?

How do you feel about what you do with your life?

How would you like to feel?

18/10/2023

My body has been my greatest challenge and my greatest teacher.

Throughout my years I have gone through eating disorders, heart issues, and fibromyalgia to name a few. It is my body that has always been my greatest source of contention and my greatest healer.

Throughout my years I have learnt that this body, that carries my soul, is more than just a physical vessel. It is the encompass of everything that I am, and the physical expression of everything that there is within me as well as around me. My body is my physical guide. It is my expression and my physical sense to the world. My body has taught me the most valuable lessons of my life path, and pointed me towards the areas that I allowed myself to feel short. It has taught me to slow down, it has taught me of it’s power to heal, to value moments that make me feel alive, and to have compassion to those moments that prove to be my greatest challenge.

My body has taught me many of things throughout this journey, but most of all it has taught me of its power. It is more than just a physical vessel that you need to train, nourish, build, and overcome. It is a gateway. A gateway to learning the most sacred parts of you, a gateway to your greatest teachings, and a gateway to stepping forward as your highest self in this life path.

And my hope for you is to learn this sacred relationship and to build the trust and confidence between you and your body.

16/10/2023

Our breath is our life force energy. It allows us to transmute energies, bring in life force, and center ourselves within the present moment.

Our breath is a gift that allows us to take moments in the day to re-connect with ourselves. It gives us space to just be, and also creates space within our physical being.

Breath is everything and more than just a relaxation technique. It allows us to release tension that has accumulated in our bodies throughout the day. It has the ability to change our nervous system response from fight and flight to rest and digest. It slows our heartbeat and reduces blood pressure. It allows our energies, blood, and nutrients to flow more readily, and it allows us to feel safe, present, and grounded in the moment and within our physical bodies.

Our breath is free and a gift given for us to use on hand every day for connection and purpose.

How are you using your breath?
