At age 16, Lily was hit by a speeding car whilst crossing the road. As a result, Lily sustained multiple traumatic injuries, the worst of which was a traumatic brain and spinal cord injury.
When Lily was in the spinal unit of the hospital, she did not have the benefit of having access to someone she could talk to who had experienced a spinal cord injury. Lily’s spinal cord injury was an emotional roller coaster for Lily and her family that would have been easier with the practical help provided by our Peer and Family Support Team.
Lily is now sharing her story to increase awareness about the importance of SCIA’s Peer Support program and to raise much needed funds so that more newly injured patients can receive and benefit from peer support services in their time of need.
Please make a tax time donation to ensure that people like Lily never have to go through this experience alone.
