After the success of the last flavour trials (with lychee coming as a strong new family favourite), I had fun experimenting with new combos today:

πŸ‘πŸŸ  Apricot + a hint of cinnamon
πŸ‡πŸ“ Grapes & strawberries
πŸπŸ‡ Grapes & pears – hello, autumn vibes! πŸ‚
πŸ’œπŸ€ fig & vanilla – technically a third fermentation using last week’s leftovers, topped up with fresh kombucha

We’re back in the brew game, baby!! πŸ¦ πŸŽ‰

After a long break (blame the whirlwind of launching our new startup ), we decided it was time to get those good gut vibes going again. Nothing like a fresh batch of homemade kombucha to keep us fuelled to do all the things!

Feeling inspired by The Big Book of Kombucha by and experimenting with some new flavour combos – stay tuned to see how they turn out! πŸ’›β€οΈπŸ’œ

When you go on holiday and come back to a very sour milk kefir… Do not let all the good stuff go to waste and make kefir cream cheese!!

A bit zesty, a bit creamy, full of good bacteria - aaah it’s good to be home too!!

Note: I leave my ferments in the fridge when I go away as it slows down the fermentation process :)

Fresh batch of milk kefir on the way straight after receiving our first today πŸ’ͺ🏻

So many emotions today when we were waiting to get vaccinated... So much joy to think that the end of the tunnel is close and hope that we can see my family and friends overseas soon πŸ’ It has been a tough 18 months for everyone and we have all tried to navigate the storm the best way we could. I am grateful for here in Australia for helping us stay safe and protect our loved ones and community πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

Fermented carrot tops and cashew pesto! Complete spur of the moment... What had started as my usual carrot tops pesto (carrot tops, olive oil, salt and any nut I have in hands) ended up somewhere in between a pesto and fermented cashew cheese by adding nutritional yeast and kefir water... The added zing from the fermentation takes this to another level of yumminess!!!

Ok it has been ages since I posted anything... Simply because it has been ages since I was able to do anything fermentation 😞 But 2021 will come with some big changes and I am looking forward to being able to spend more time focusing on my well-being as well as my little family. In the meantime I made these kefir cheese balls in olive oil 🀩

Fermented homegrown beetroots πŸ’œ I used 1/3 kefir water and 2/3 purified water. Will leave it out for a day or so (it is quite warm at the moment in Sydney so should ferment quickly)

I will use them to make beetroot hummus πŸ˜‹
