Today on a plane ride home, there was a mum traveling solo with 3 little ones — they looked about 4, 5 and 6.
The adorable youngest one must have called “Mum” approximately 3,278 times and did not stop talking once 😂🥹
“Mum. MUM! Maaaahhhm!! I want to hold your hand forever…”
(instant tears honestly 😭)
“Mum? There’s a plane!”
“Mum I’m hungry.”
“I’m HUNGRYYYY!”
“Gimme popcorn LADY!”
And this beautiful mum stayed calm, loving, organised and patient through it all.
Clear boundaries. Gentle corrections. Kindness. Presence.
When the popcorn arrived?
“I DON’T LIKE POPCORN!” 😂
Still… calm.
By the time we landed, she somehow had all 3 children gathered with jackets, backpacks, water bottles, hand holds and little soothing head rubs as they walked off the plane together. She looked beautiful… but behind her eyes you could see the exhaustion too.
And I just thought… motherhood is one of the most relentless, invisible, sacred jobs in the world.
Not just on Mother’s Day — but always — mums deserve to be acknowledged for the thousands of tiny moments of care that often go unseen.
The lunchboxes packed with love.
The intuitive rub on the back when a child feels nervous.
The encouragement during scary moments.
The emotional regulation while holding everyone else together.
The endless giving.
The mental load.
The tenderness.
So many women are doing this without the village we were always meant to have.
And still… they keep showing up with extraordinary love.
My hat off and a deep bow to all the beautiful mothers out there 🤍
And personally… I am so deeply grateful that I get to be mum to two incredible souls. It is the most humbling, heart-opening, healing journey of my life.
Motherhood has stretched me, softened me, cracked me open, exhausted me, healed parts of me I didn’t even know needed healing — and filled my life with a depth of love I could never fully put into words.
To all the mums today — whether you are thriving, surviving, grieving, healing, solo parenting, missing your own mother, longing to become one, or simply doing your best one moment at a time…
I see you.
Happy Mother’s Day
