Hyde Park Clinical Psychology We specialise in the treatment of anxiety, depression, traumatic stress, bipolar disorder, burnout and emotional difficulties.

Our director and principal clinical psychologist is Dr Adrian Allen. Please contact us to ask about an appointment. Adrian is committed to helping people improve their mental health in a supportive empathic environment. He uses approaches that research has shown to be helpful and effective including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT). He also continues to teach for the NSW Health Education and Training Institute (previously the NSW Institute of Psychiatry), provides clinical supervision to other psychologists and trainees, and has current research collaborations into anxiety disorders and their treatment with St Vincent's Hospital and the University of New South Wales. When he's not working, he tries to keep up with guitar and cooking. He misses the odd note and burns things on occasion but he's sure he'll get there.

In short, the researchers found that people in general have reported less depression and anxiety than predicted. This shows that we can all learn new ways to cope and adapt when we are finding things challenging. Please feel free to contact us if you'd like help with managing how you feel and to learn helpful ways to cope.

The world’s psychological immune system turned out to be more robust than expected.

Then the loop of worry begins and anxiety follows. So, being present means focusing the mind on what is happening in this moment. The present moment.

Here are a couple of ways to practice being present by focusing the mind.
