🏄‍♂️🌊 That’s a Wrap on an Epic Nippers Season! 🌊🏄‍♀️

What a season it’s been! From mastering the waves to building teamwork and resilience, our Nippers have shown incredible dedication, enthusiasm, and surf skills since October 💪🌞

Nippers showpieces the future of our Club, shaping the next generation of surf life savers. Many of our greatest Lifesavers started their journey right here, developing the skills and passion that keep our beaches safe today. 🏖️❤️

We've watched our Nippers not only grow in confidence in the surf but also develop vital first aid and lifesaving skills—preparing them to be the lifesavers of the future - all whilst having a lot of fun! This seasons we proudly graduated an awesome crew of u14s through the Surf Rescue Certificate and into our Patrol ranks 🩹🚑🌊

To our Nippers —we are so proud of your achievements this season! Keep practicing your skill, practice and preach safety in the water, and we can’t wait to see you back on the beach next season! 🏄‍♂️🔥

First Aid Fridays - treatment for Jumble Jelly fish (CARYBDEA RASTONI) sting
Not sure if anyone has had a ‘Jumble jelly’ sting at Dee Why beach this season. There’s still some controversy / confusion about recognising the sting and treatment. This is what we know and some guidance about the best treatment. Attached is a summary – spoiler alert – use hot water as hot as the person can bare after dousing with vinegar to deactivate the stinging cells. N.B. There are two bottles of vinegar in the first aid room bedside the shower for this (do not use this for blue bottle stings – it is a waste as it does not work).

First Aid Friday – head injury
Management of head (brain) injury includes assessing and managing the airway and breathing, while ensuring the neck is kept stable (high spinal injuries often occur with traumatic head injury). Anyone who experiences a head injury must be assessed by a health care professional.

Another great Sun Run starts at Dee Why Beach, with a record 10,000 runners travelling south to Manly! 🌅🏃‍♀️🏃🏃‍♂️🌞
