The Planning Collective

The Planning Collective Welcome to The Planning Collective.

We are a team of health and disability professionals delivering independent NDIS Support Coordination & Psychosocial Recovery Coaching across VIC & NSW.

19/07/2024

With so much fear around NDIS support coordination we hope this post gives you some comfort.

45% of NDIS participants receive support coordination in their plan (NDIS, 2024).

Support coordination is important, reasonable and necessary. It is highly unlikely that it will be removed entirely when legislation is passed.

Reform is needed to ensure people with a disability can continue to receive support under the scheme. This is a fact! We agree and support this, while ensuring you work toward your goals.

The Planning Collective strengths are below, this ensures we will remain providing the support needed to participants of our service.

-Independent contractors- a skilled and independent workforce focusing on you the participant.
-NDIS registered provider 🙌 recertification passed Monday 15th July 2024 🙌
-Providing a capacity building service to you and your networks.
-professional development and a team of professionals who are working with you and the current framework with understanding but without fear mongering.

We look forward to continuing our commitment to you (the participant), our community and genuinely working within the current and future NDIS framework.

Choosing Quality and Safe Supports

A service provider is a person, business or organisation that delivers your support. It’s important to choose service providers that will help you reach your goals. You have the right to feel safe and to receive quality support and/or services from your providers, regardless of which service provider you use. Remember, you can change service providers if necessary.

Some service providers are registered with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission—they are called registered providers. Other businesses/organisations choose not to register with the NDIS Commission—they are unregistered providers.

Unregistered providers are not covered by the same screening, quality and safeguarding requirements of registered providers. That doesn't mean you cannot choose to use an unregistered provider; it just means you need to be informed about this choice. Here are a few things to consider:

Can they provide you with a service agreement?
Does the provider have appropriate insurance cover?
Do their workers have ongoing police checks and a working with children check?
Have their workers completed the NDIS Worker Orientation module?
What training and relevant experience do they have?
How will they protect your privacy?
How will they manage conflict of interest?

All support providers, registered or not, are bound by the NDIS Code of Conduct. The NDIS Commission has published a resource that outlines the code of conduct and why it is important to be informed about your provider choices (see below). If you have any concerns about a provider you are working with, you can contact the NDIS Commision on 1800 035 544 or contactcentre@ndiscommission.gov.au.

Our Story

The Planning Collective evolved from a desire to move beyond bureaucracy and get back to supporting people to realise the full potential of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). Launched in 2018, we are a small organisation hoping to make a big impact. Passionate about learning and sharing information; we aim to deliver expert Support Coordination that empowers participants to confidently manage their NDIS plan. The Planning Collective is a values based organisation. Put simply, this means our behaviour and organisational culture is based on our core values; equity, integrity and quality.
