Simple, fun, and full of new experiences in yesterday's cooking program ๐Ÿฃ

Michael made sushi and tried some new flavours, including pickled ginger. Alongside that, they also prepared Japanese potato salad, karaage chicken, and finished off with red velvet brownies. Cheers to always trying something different ๐Ÿ‘

3 Years of Breakaway ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š

From a simple houseโ€ฆ to a place that means so much more.

Over the past three years, Breakaway has grown into a home filled with memories, laughter, and meaningful moments. Itโ€™s become a safe and welcoming space where our clients have met friends and discovered their passions, all while being supported every step of the way.

Weโ€™ve seen confidence grow, skills develop, and passions come to life. And the journey doesnโ€™t stop here because thereโ€™s still so much more to learn, explore, and achieve.

Breakaway has also become a space for our team- a place to connect, support one another, and build strong working relationships. Itโ€™s where training happens and where we continue to grow together.

What started as a house has truly become our all-in-one place that reflects who we are and how we show up every day: ๐——๐—ฒ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—บ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐—ง๐—ผ ๐—•๐—ฒ ๐——๐—ถ๐—ณ๐—ณ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜.

WHAT.A.DAY! ๐Ÿ‰ Matt, Jordan, and Kayla had an amazing time cheering on the Rabbitohs vs Bulldogs! The game was intense, and the excitement didnโ€™t stop there. They even got down to the fence at the end and snapped a photo with Lachlan Galvin! ๐Ÿ˜„

Jordan was lucky enough to get his flag signed too! ๐Ÿ˜Ž !

Thursday Boys Cooking menu:
Crunchy oven-baked chicken tenders
Cottage pie
Easter carrot cupcakes

Steve helped mix and fill the cupcake cases, and both Michael and Steve piped icing and decorated the cupcakes. They also practiced coordination by piping mashed potato onto the cottage pies. They even helped with some washing up!

The best part? Our clients can take these cooking skills home and try the recipes in their own kitchen.

The Pie Bros are back at it! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Steve and Bill headed out for another one of their classic days out yesterday and when lunchtime hit, there was only one place to goโ€ฆ the pie shop!

Safe to say, it did not disappoint. Chunky filling, rich gravy, now thatโ€™s what they call a proper feed!

Did you know that half (50%) of recently surveyed Australians have limited to no understanding of autism?

This is why World Autism Understanding Month (April 2nd) is so important. It aims to build genuine understanding, challenge misconceptions, and dispel myths about autism, helping to create a more inclusive Australia for everyone.

This yearโ€™s theme, โ€œAutism and Humanity โ€“ Every Life Has Value,โ€ reminds us of the importance of recognising the dignity, worth, and contributions of Autistic people within our community. In Australia, World Autism Understanding Month runs throughout April and encourages all of us to take the time to learn, reflect, and take meaningful action.

Understanding does not happen in a single day. It is something we continue to build through listening and learning from lived experiences.

Throughout the month, we are encouraged to:
โ€ข Learn from Autistic lived experiences
โ€ข Build confidence in understanding autism
โ€ข Create environments that support inclusion, participation, and belonging

At Euroa Care, we remain committed and in creating a community where every individual feels valued, supported, and included. Because every life has value ๐Ÿ’™

Tuesday cooking with Breeana was a big success in the kitchen! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป

Breeana got hands-on measuring and mixing the cookie dough, then rolled it out and cut beautiful Easter shapes. Once they were baked and cooled, she made her own icing and had full creative control over decorating her cookies.

We also tried the internet-famous dumpling lasagne, which was a hit, and prepared oven-baked crispy chicken tenders served with mashed potato and veggies ๐Ÿ˜‹

Breeana was a superstar today, showing great initiative and getting involved in every step from preparation to cooking and cleaning. It is always great to see confidence and independence growing through these everyday skills!

Our Monday cooking program was full of energy! The day began as usual with grocery shopping to assist the girls in decision-making and budgeting.

For lunch, they made homemade hamburgers, paired with baked zucchini fries as a healthier alternative to chips. They also got into the Easter spirit by creating chocolate oat nests and delicious dairy free Easter cookies.

It is always great to see the girls developing their skills in the kitchen while having fun and working together, but did you know that our cooking participants can take these skills home? They can enjoy the cooking program in the comfort of their own homes, where they can try out recipes they have learned and try out the meals independently, with minimal guidance from our support workers.

If this sounds fun to you, feel free to reach out and weโ€™d love to share more!
