Maternally assisted Caesarean section:

we are so excited to share this video from the incredible Lyz Evans who recently had a bub with Lynn. This video shows how a woman and her partner can be more intimately involved in the birth of their baby.

We are so happy to have had Dr Matthew Peres as assistant, Dr Jenny Kaldor as anaesthetist to the stars and Dr Parag Mishra, neonatologist. Our wonderful midwife Polly Delaney facilitated the skin to skin and early breastfeed. Prince of Wales Private Hospital again leads in maternal care.

Nothing excites Dr Devora Lieberman more than positive pregnancy tests. As medical director of she is able to provide expert and compassionate care to people seeking fertility and miscarriage management.
Dr Devora practices from magnificent rooms in Circular Quay as well as seeing patients at GOALS Bondi Junction.
Just this week Dr Devora delivered news to 12 very excited people that their fertility treatment has been successful with lovely little babies arriving later this year.
Dr Devora has co-authored a key guide for people undergoing fertility treatment with Claire Hall called Empowered Fertility (https://www.hachette.com.au/claire-hall-devora-lieberman/empowered-fertility-the-essential-guide-to-managing-fertility-treatments-and-challenges-plus-information-about-ivf). This guide helps people with the more difficult aspects of fertility treatment, being their emotional and psychological health.

Introducing Dr Russell Duncan 👨‍⚕️🩺👶 🍼

Dr Russell Duncan offers both Obstetric and Gynaecological care. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG). He completed his Fellowship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney where he undertook an additional two year post graduate fellowship in advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery through the Australian Gynaecological Endoscopy Society (AGES). He also trained at the Royal Darwin Hospital, Gosford Hospital and Canterbury Hospital

Prior to completing his medical degree at Melbourne University, Russell undertook a science degree with research honors which involved work in research laboratories. This gave him an excellent foundation in and understanding of evidence-based medicine.

Obstetrics
He understands the importance of personalized care and does not take a “one size fits all” approach, treating each patient as an individual. Having undertaken his training at busy tertiary hospitals, Dr Duncan has extensive experience in managing high risk pregnancies including twins, gestational diabetes, and other complex medical and surgical issues. He provides private obstetric care beginning with pre-pregnancy counselling through to birth and post-natal care. He delivers at Prince of Wales Private Hospital.

Gynaecology
Dr Duncan can offer non-surgical and surgical management of all gynaecological conditions. In addition to general gynaecology training during his FRANZCOG he has also undertaken additional training in advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery and has a particular interest in endometriosis surgery and laparoscopic (key-hole) hysterectomy. He is able to treat all other gynaecological conditions and offers both office based medical management as well as surgical when required. He is proficient in vaginal and open surgery as well as minimally invasive and complex surgery and will tailor your operation to your individual situation. Dr Duncan operates at Prince of Wales Private Hospital and St Luke’s Hospital.

Introducing our team:

Shamara Lurie is the Physiotherapist at GOALS for Women. She offers a personalised, one on one approach to all her patients and works closely with the doctors here at GOALS as well as with other medical practitioners.

Her main focus is assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of pelvic floor weakness and dysfunction in women (prenatal, postnatal, menopause, pre and post surgery). This includes treatment of incontinence (bladder and bowel), chronic constipation, voiding difficulties, pelvic organ prolapse, vaginismus and pelvic pain. She also has a special interest in prenatal and postnatal education and exercise.

Shamara’s particular area of expertise is in the physiotherapeutic care of menopausal women.

Shamara is a registered physiotherapist and has had over 20 years of extensive experience working in the field of women’s health, incontinence, childbirth education and osteoporosis. Over the years she has worked in both public hospitals and private practice. She is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association, The National Continence and Women’s Health Special Interest Group, The Osteoporosis Sydney Support Group and the Continence Foundation of Australia. She is committed to ongoing education and attends regular workshops and courses in women’s health.

She also conducts the following workshops:
* Pregnancy – preparing the pelvic floor and perineum for birth
* Postnatal – pelvic floor and abdominal muscle recovery
* Menopause – taking care of your pelvic floor, education and exercise
* Osteoporosis – management and prevention

Dr David Kowalski is an obstetrician and gynaecologist who has advanced skills in operative laparoscopy.

David Kowalski graduated from the University of Sydney in 1991 and has been a qualified Obstetrician and Gynaecologist since 2005. His training included a lengthy fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery in addition to five years of instruction as a general surgeon. He has published and presented numerous papers in his field and currently holds academic posts, as Senior Clinical Lecturer, with the Universities of Sydney and Western Sydney.
