Veterans Psychology is passionate about providing veterans the very best in mental health support, and now we want to share our passion and insight with fellow psychologists who might also want to work with this fantastic client group.

Our founder Nadia Teong alongside Veterans Psychology’s Michelle McInnes and colleague Kristi Claymore, who collectively have over 80 years of service in the Australian Army, will be presenting at the 2025 Festival of Psychology.

Happening on the Gold Coast 16-18 May “Veterans Psychology - understanding and working with veteran populations in private practice” will discuss the rewards and challenges of working with veterans in private practice. The session will offer practical strategies, insights into military culture and its impact on mental health and highlight key resources to help clinicians better support veteran clients.

Workplace wellness is often a buzz word among offices but for good reason. A recent report found that two in three employees have felt burnt out due to work.

Nadia was on a mission to change this when she recently gave a presentation at The King's Trust Australia Enterprise Accelerator.

Having seen firsthand the challenges of maintaining mental health and resilience especially in the fast-paced world of entrepreneurship, Nadia shared practical strategies to foster mental well-being, build sustainable resilience, and create a healthier, more supportive work environment.

The session was a success with these just some of the kind words that participants said:
- Thank you Nadia - this has been great and so practical with what we can do to self-care.
- Thank you so much Nadia! So helpful and a great reminder of the grounding techniques.

"Out of the finalists my business was certainly the smallest but I don't think that our impact is small in any way."

This sentence spoken by Nadia when accepting the Veteran Entrepreneur of the Year award encompasses the philosophy behind Veterans Psychology.

Veterans Psychology is more than just a business. It's a space that connects veterans and military families with experienced military psychologists to improve not only veterans' mental health, but also providing opportunities for psychologists who are veterans or veteran family members to find a community of practice.

Nadia is a trailblazer and well deserving of this award. Congratulations again!

Veterans Psychology’s founder, Nadia Teong, has achieved a great deal in 2024, and she ended the year on a high last night when she was awarded the Prime Minister’s National Veteran Employment Award —Veteran Entrepreneur of the Year.

The awards recognise the contributions veterans make to businesses and organisations, while the Entrepreneur of the Year award commends individual entrepreneurs who are using their ADF-related experience to succeed within the civilian workforce.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese echoed the awards' importance, saying "These Awards serve as a powerful reminder of the remarkable contributions veterans make to the community each and every day. Congratulations to all the winners."

Once again, congratulations to Nadia, as well as her co-finalists Ryan Carmichael and Allan Dundas, and to all the other category winners. The veteran community looks to be in capable hands heading into 2025!

Are you a veteran, interested in MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for PTSD?

Check this out from Monash Uni - "We are currently undertaking a clinical trial for MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for the treatment of PTSD in first responders and veterans specifically. This is a great opportunity for people from these priority populations to get free access to this treatment, delivered by the most experienced psychedelic clinical team in Australia (the typical cost of MDMA-assisted therapy for PTSD within the new Authorised Prescriber clinics is ~$25,000)."

"Veterans and first responders with PTSD wanting to participate need only write to mdma@monash.edu, and further info and next steps will be sent to them."
