Two bellies.
One story.
A beginning that exists because of the other.

A reminder that a caesarean birth is still birth.
That strength can look like surrender, surgery, stitches and recovery.
That this body grew, carried, protected and brought life into the world — just in a different way.

🤍 Picture reshared with the beautiful Tilly’s consent.

If you’ve had a caesarean, I’d love you to share below:
What is one thing you wish you knew about a CS before having one?

Your words might be exactly what another mama needs to read today.

I was so grateful to be invited to be part of the WSLHD Maternity Open Day at Blacktown Hospital last year 🤎

For many years now, has worked alongside local maternity teams — supporting women, not replacing care. Being present at events like this reflects the trusted relationships we’ve built over time.

We’ve had midwives from this hospital, MGP midwives, and even ADON / management staff attend our classes themselves with their partners to prepare for their own births. That means everything to me.

Kaia Birth is not woo-woo or anti-medical.
It’s non-biased, evidence-based education for ALL families.

Yes — we’ll teach you how to use oils, breath and hands-on tools in labour.
And we’ll also teach you about epidurals, inductions, augmentation of labour, and how to navigate medical options with confidence and understanding.

Education. Choice. Support.
Always alongside your care team 🤍

As many already know — you can contact me anytime. My number is everywhere.

Before we label a labour as “failure to progress”…

Ask better questions.

Did she feel safe?
Did she feel rushed?
Did she feel watched?
Did her partner know what he was doing?

Labour runs on oxytocin.
Oxytocin flows in safety.
Adrenaline shuts it down.

Now — important nuance 👇🏼
There are some births that don’t dilate or progress for genuine medical reasons.
And when there are real medical risks to mother or baby, intervention is absolutely appropriate.

This post is not about those situations.

This is about the many physiological labours — where mum and baby are well — that slow down because the environment, energy or support isn’t protecting the hormones.

That’s not blame.
That’s biology.

When you understand how labour actually works, you can protect it.

And that changes everything.

Stop. 🤎
Just for a moment.

Take this breath with me.

Inhale your breath…
Exhale your tension.

Practising now wires your body to stay calm when intensity rises — in life and in labour.

🤰🏽 And if you’re pregnant — Come to class to learn how to use your breath for birth.

Because how you breathe matters 🤎✨

Part three & final ✨

Watch to the end for the magic 👶🏽

Such an incredible woman you are thank you for sharing your beautiful story with us 🤎

“At this point, Ellie suggested that I would be able to deliver our baby and instructed that with the next contraction I could reach down either side of bub’s head and lift up to my chest. I think it was maybe a minute or two and the next contraction came along and at 10:21am reached down and lifted baby out of the water. I immediately feel the cord pull as I was trying to get bub up to my chest and my first thought was that it was wrapped around it’s neck, I managed to say “the cord” and she quickly jumped to action, flipped bubs head back could see it wasn’t around it’s neck but it was under their leg, arm and around the back of the neck, during the untangling process we discovered our baby was a BOY !

Once he was untangled, I popped him up to my chest properly and we got to chill in the bath for about 20 minutes and then Ellie and Rick helped me up to the bed where I eventually delivered the placenta. Hendrix laid on my chest and latched while I was assessed for tears. Fortunately I had a minor graze that they later rechecked that didn’t require stitching.
We had hours of magical skin to skin, and had cheese toasties & cookies at 4pm for our first meal of the day.
I’d done it, our boy was here. Life is good.
Women are phenomenal.”

Part two ✨

“Ellie had a mirror at the bottom of the tub and it got to the point I felt like I needed to push again (it’s about 8:45am). She suggested we do some practice pushes and see how that felt and then if I was comfortable and I felt like things were good then I should continue pushing as I felt the urge to.

I’d been pushing for about an hour and my waters broke in the bath. Eventually we got to the point of transition and I really struggled - it hit me hard. I remember looking up at Ellie and Rick in tears saying I can’t do this any more, I’m too tired and Ellie looked at me and smiled and said that this was it, I’d have 3 to 4 contractions and 3 to 4 good pushes and I’d be able to meet my baby and for me that was all I needed.

I refocused. I knew that the goal was in sight and that it was up to me to get there. So for the next few contractions I did everything I could and everything I’ve learnt from - bearing down, full lungs and focus and after 3 contractions our baby’s head was out and all I can remember is relief !

I got to reach down and feel bub’s head.”
