Introducing our beautiful new educator, Gabby ☀️

“Hi, I’m Gabby, a Kaia Birth Educator and Doula based in Newcastle. I’m deeply passionate about birth and supporting women and their partners to feel confident, informed, and empowered as they step into parenthood. For me, it’s about helping families trust in themselves and thrive in this huge life transition.

I was first drawn to Kaia Birth after meeting Sheraden, the director, through the Australian Doula College. From the very beginning, it felt like our minds were already aligned and when I was invited to join a class in Sydney, everything clicked into place. Watching how powerful it is when families are given the right information and tools truly solidified my love for this work. It showed me how transformational education and support can be, not just in birth but in the way families move into parenthood feeling grounded and united.

Sheraden is so relatable and authentic in the way she teaches and I feel incredibly grateful to be learning from her and to now be a part of this journey with Kaia Birth. ”

You will be able to book your birth education with Gabby very soon (keep an eye on our announcement!), you can book her birth support now though

Welcome Gab! Excited for mothers of Newcastle & Hunter to have access to our amazing birth education ✨

This is a very special birth story. It’s lengthy so grab a cuppa, tissues and get comfy to read all about Mel & Ryan’s journey through loss, IVF, pregnancy high risk and the most beautiful empowering birth. 🤎

Welcome baby Bella, named after a very special place in her mum & dad’s hearts Genea ✨

It was such a honour to be able to hold Mel’s’ hands and guide her through the journey of pregnancy, birth and postpartum. We had weekly calls after each appointment to discuss her thoughts, options, risks and benefits and guide her next move. We advocated countless times and created the perfect path for her and Bella that included both their safety and Mel’s wishes.

Thank you Mel, for trusting me to guide you, and thank you for sharing this incredible story with our family.

Enjoy reading 🫖

Kiana & Luke ✨

A story that shows how empowering yourself and your birth partner with education, can truely make a difference when things go off the path in labour. Little Jude stressed by the drip, but his mum and dad knew exactly how to advocate for their little guy even in the midst of stress.

Birth combs – do they really work? 🪮✨

Another to SAVE for later + SWIPE for a Kaia Birth partner TIP 😉

It might look a little quirky, but holding a comb in your hands during labour can be a surprisingly effective comfort measure.

Here’s why:
🖐 The teeth of the comb press into acupressure points in your palm, helping your body release the tension building in your body from contractions.

🧠 This “pain gate theory” effect can reduce the perception of pain and tension. Similar to the tens, the brains working out what the messages are from the pressure points rather than focusing on the pain signals primarily!

💆‍♀️ It also gives your hands something to grip, preventing the feeling of being ‘lost’ and frees up your birthing partners hands to support you elsewhere.

It’s simple, inexpensive, and portable – but most importantly, it can give you a sense of control and grounding in your birth space.

Have you tried birth combs before? Let’s hear your experience ⬇️

The incredible birth of Romee ✨

Thank you to Hayley for sharing your beautiful journey with us all, and to your sister Rachel for trusting education to support you through 🤎 I love how you all knew about birth, it’s stages and signs (or sounds 😉) to follow and guide where you were at.

“.. After an IVF conception, my goal was to have a physiological water birth to rebuild my trust in my body and experience birth as naturally as possible..”

Hayley empowered herself with education and was able to advocate for her wishes with the common ‘IVF babies must be induced by 40 weeks’ read all about her strength and hurdles in the birth story.

“…I’m incredibly grateful for the Kaia Birth course. The education Sheraden shared gave me confidence, awareness, and the tools to labour naturally without medical pain relief. I understood each phase as it came and felt deeply supported by my preparation.

It was everything I hoped birth could be...”

⚡️ 5 Common Mistakes When Using a TENS Machine in Labour ⚡️

(You’ll want to save/share this for your birth partner to read)

TENS can be such a game-changer for comfort in labour, but only if used the right way. Here are the most common mistakes we see:

1️⃣ Waiting until labour is intense before switching it on
2️⃣ Placing the pads in the wrong spots
3️⃣ Keeping the settings too low (it should feel strong, not tickly!)
4️⃣ Turning it off between contractions
5️⃣ Forgetting to turn the BOOST button off between contractions

The right use = more pain relief + more control in labour 💪✨

Hello followers 👋🏽

As requested, a belated pregnancy update for you all!!

For those that don’t know me, hello, I’m Sheraden! Owner and creator of 🤎 and I’m expecting my 3rd baby 🤰🏽

I’m SO excited to share that I’ll be having my very first home birth. Thankfully, the local public hospital MGP program at Gosford have this option available with no cost ✨

I’m currently 27 weeks
Feeling great, but tired. And if you’ve been to class recently a bit brain fogged from the good old baby brain 🤭
Monitoring so far: dating + morphology scan + Doppler check at 12/40 and 20/40
Next appt: midwife appt this weekend!
Concerns: none thankfully. I am however paying particular close attention to my iron levels, I felt depleted after my birth with Pania and I’d like to avoid this! Also setting up some extra supports post partum with a student postpartum doula from
Planning: 30 week check in with physio and homeopathy education session with and I’m dragging hubby along to our September class because I want him to gain all the incredible skills dads learn at the Kaia program. So much more than he would’ve learnt at a hypno program we did for Pania.

Overall, relatively cruisey pregnancy and I realise I’m blessed to say this!

I’m an open book, ask me any question in the comments below if you are curious!

Also working behind the scenes to handover the incredible program to midwife Jane in October ~ so excited for this 🔥

I’ll fill you in again in the third trimester! That’ll be a busier time involving raspberry leaf tea, peri massage, birth prep and colostrum harvesting!

Positive and empowered induction birth story ✨

The days leading up to birth Monika reached out for support to navigate induction offers and raising blood pressure (also there was a sneaky mucous plug pic in there somewhere too!).

The Kaia Birth difference is shown in the support and guidance available to couples after class ends.

“…It’s because of your class and guidance that we felt confident in all of our decisions, you deserve so much credit for our experience too 🩵🩵 ”

Birth Story of River Harlow ✨

“Two previous caesareans — the first for a breech baby, the second for a big baby.

This pregnancy, I was determined to have a natural birth for my last baby. I did all the things throughout my pregnancy to support this: we got a doula (who was worth every cent), did lots of research, listened to podcasts, practiced daily yoga, saw a chiropractor weekly from 34 weeks, and attended a Kaia Birth class — which was so valuable not just for me, but for my husband too, giving him the knowledge to support me fully.”
