About the role:

EK Medical is seeking a friendly and professional Medical Receptionist to join our team in Engadine, NSW. This role offers the flexibility of a casual or part-time position.
In addition to our general practice services, our clinic also offers a range of cosmetic skincare treatments, including facials, chemical peels, and advanced skin consultations. This is a great opportunity to work in a unique setting that combines medical care with skin health and beauty services.

What you'll be doing:

* Greeting patients and visitors in a warm and welcoming manner, whether they’re visiting for a health check-up or a skincare consultation
* Scheduling appointments and managing the clinic's diary, including both GP services and cosmetic skincare bookings
* Handling patient inquiries and booking appointments for medical and cosmetic services
* Coordinating and processing medical billing and payments, including cosmetic treatment fees
* Maintaining accurate patient records and filing documentation across both medical and skincare services
* Providing administrative support to the clinical team, including our cosmetic skin therapists and GPs

What we're looking for:

* Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar administrative role within the healthcare industry
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, clinicians, and skincare specialists
* Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail to maintain efficient clinic operations across both general practice and cosmetic services
* Proficiency in using medical software (Best Practice) and general office technology
* A caring, empathetic, and customer-focused approach to patient service, whether assisting with a health concern or a skincare appointment
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team that values wellness and aesthetic care

My name is Dr Mariam: Twin mum to boy toddlers, compassionate GP, and dedicated advocate for women’s and family health!
I earned my medical degree from the University of Wollongong in 2013, following my Bachelor of Medical Science (Honours) at the University of Sydney. My clinical training spans many hospitals, including Concord, Canterbury, St George, Sutherland, and Shoalhaven District Hospitals.
With a special focus on empowering women and supporting young families, I hold additional qualifications including a Family Planning Certificate in Sexual and Reproductive Health and a Diploma in Children’s Health. As an Antenatal Shared Care Provider, I collaborate with St George and Sutherland Hospitals to ensure comprehensive care throughout pregnancy and beyond.
My passion lies in evidence-based preventative medicine and delivering holistic, personalised care. I strive to support women and families at every stage, from preconception planning through pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond.
Having experienced infertility and pregnancy loss, I understand the challenges of the fertility journey. I am committed to providing empathetic support to those navigating these experiences. As a practitioner in training with the NDC, I assist families with breastfeeding, sleep issues, and managing fussiness. I am also training to become an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant, with a keen interest in breastfeeding medicine.
As a mother of a child with autism, I passionately advocate for early support for children with suspected neurodevelopmental disorders.
I believe in the power of improving health literacy, which I promote through my Instagram and TikTok channels under .the.dr.
I am thrilled to embark on my journey with EK Medical.

Flu Shot Clinics start in clinic on Monday April 14th.
Book in today by clicking on the “Book Now” button on our website and selecting “Flu Vaccination” from our drop down menu.
If you can’t make the clinic, our nurses are happy to accomodate you outside of those times.

Did you know we provide in clinic iron infusions? 🩺🩹

Many adults and children, who are suffering from fatigue and other concerning symptoms, are actually low in iron.

Symptoms of low iron can include:
Fatigue, dizzy spells, fainting or feeling faint, pale skin, breathlessness, frequent headaches, palpitations or racing heart, easily irritated, difficulty in concentrating, and other symptoms.

Risk Factors For Low Iron:
Heavy menstrual bleeds, Endometriosis, Adenomyosis, Fibroids, Endometrial Polyps, Coeliac disease, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Pregnant and Breast Feeding Women, Vegetarians and Vegans, amongst many others.

Iron Infusions:
Sometimes when Iron gets too low, supplements and food will not be enough to get iron levels up to where they should be quick enough. This is where iron infusions can be very effective. An Iron infusion is when iron is delivered via an intravenous line into a person's body.

Iron infusions allow iron into the body much quicker, they’re safe and they have little to no side effects.
