What if you actually took 5 minutes out of your life, right now - INHALE x 4, HOLD x 4, EXHALE x 8.
Your breath is a powerful tool to bring you into your body and connect you with the present moment. On each exhale relax into your body. What is your mind focusing on? Do you have tension in your body? Accept where you are right now. Notice how acceptance releases stress and anxiety? If not, continue to focus on your breath until you feel calm, your mind has slowed and you feel you created "space" between moments.

A small recharge for the day - it is a practice for mental fitness.

In times of uncertainty it is so important to recognise what makes you feel good. My love is ocean swimming... the cold water, the salt and the rhythmic breathing calms my mind, gives me clarity and connects me back to “me”. The ocean puts me back together again. What do you love to do? What action helps you to reset? When the world around you is shifting, changing and so out of your control it is important to have that “thing” that pulls you back together.
Finding that “thing” it is the first step to self-care which leads to mental fitness. How do you bounce back?

Anxiety is caused by fighting the present moment, wanting something different to what is actually happening. When you accept what is happening, there is a feeling of calm for that moment. If you are feeling anxious, connect to your breath. Make it a practice each daily, 5 minutes daily, The more you practice the easier it will be to use it when you do have moments of anxiety or panic. How am I feeling in this moment? Why am I feeling like this? What can I learn from this?

Your breath is a powerful tool to help you calm your mind and connect to yourself. Mindfulness tools used daily will improve your mental fitness Mental fitness take practice like exercise is for physical fitness.

Breathing for Mental Fitness
When you are overcome by fear, overwhelm; when you feel disconnected from others, lonely, nervous or anxious, the first thing you should do is focus on your breath. It is a powerful grounding tool.
This is a breathing technique the SAS Army use in moments of great pressure and stress
Inhale for 4 counts
Hold for 4 counts
Exhale for 4 counts
10 + sets
If you get distracted, connecting to your breath, let go of your thoughts, see them float away.
Do this anytime of day, at your desk, walking, or just sitting down. You will feel calmer when you connect to your breath, as you take yourself out of your mind your heart.

As we open up slowly from our COVID coma, it is time for a fresh start, a new way of being!
I am running a Zoom Wellbeing Workshop for Clarity, Calm and Connection for those who would like to learn Mindfulness techniques to use daily for mental fitness, for greater connection with others, and self care.
Our breath is a powerful healing tool for connection to your true self, inner being and soul. I teach meditation/breathing techniques to bring awareness to your thoughts, behaviours and emotions. Meditation will bring you in touch with present moment and from here you can create change.
