Looking forward to this collaboration with Happening within my community of Redfern. Meeting ourselves where we’re at with care & kindness 🧘🏽‍♀️Yoga isn’t about fixing or changing ourselves. Yoga encourages us to be present in our own capacity and what awareness may arise 🙌🏾 First Nation’s people have long understood that Connection to Country does not require change. We understand Country sustains us as we are ☮️

First Nations people express a deep understanding that they are sufficient, and the natural world is enough to sustain them, both physically and spiritually.
The modern world is heavily saturated with choice. While increased options are often equated with greater freedom and well-being, excessive choices can lead to anxiety, decision paralysis, and lower satisfaction with the final decision. Desikachar: Yoga cannot prevent stress, but as I said earlier, Yoga gives us access to our resources, which are linked to the mind. In strengthening the mind, Yoga enables us to develop a sort of cushion, an increased ability to withstand stress. This is the best way to cope with it. It’s like having a good shock absorber when driving a car on a bumpy road. Culture. Yoga. Connection. 🧘🏽‍♀️👣❤️💛🖤

Walking proudly as a custodian of the lands and inviting participants to respectfully walk on Country, honouring connection to country and offering the teaching of yoga philosophy & practices. The union of connecting to Country and yoga philosophy brings together ancient Indigenous Australian knowledges with traditional Vedic teachings, creating a holistic approach to wellbeing that unites body, spirit, and land. This blends the Aboriginal focus on connection to land, water, and community with yoga’s emphasis on self-inquiry, breath, and movement, encouraging a deeper understanding of oneness and stewardship ❤️💛🖤👣👣 I acknowledge Yoga’s origins in India & honor all the yogis who, for centuries, practiced & taught so that we might practice today.
And sharing with participants the yoga I will share is not mine but comes with a long line of teachers, students & practice 🧘🏽‍♀️☮️

Today’s Yoga Walk on Country was an invitation to embrace Indigenous understanding of non- possessive, non- greed as fundamentally rooted in relationality, focusing on interconnectedness with land, community, and the spirit world, rather than individual accumulation. Also including Aparigraha, or non-grasping, as the aligning yoga theme focusing on letting go of material, emotional, and mental attachments to find freedom. It encourages taking only what is needed, living simply, and practicing contentment, reducing anxiety over “having more”. It’s about trust, generosity, and releasing the need to control outcomes. 🧘🏽‍♀️☮️👣 Feel free to join next week’s walk https://www.barangaroo.com/whats-on/events/yoga-walks-in-country
