You know that spot that's been tight for weeks? The one you keep meaning to get looked at, keep promising yourself you'll stretch out, keep ignoring because it's not quite bad enough to stop you - but it's always just there?

Those little knots and ni**les that build up quietly in the background. They're the result of hours of sitting the same way, carrying tension in the same spots, moving in the same limited patterns day after day. Your body adapts, compensates and works around the problem. Until one day it can't anymore.

Let me work it out for you. Come and visit the studio - 1/58 Darley Rd, Manly

The recipe for a great cycle:

Sturdy helmet - A good helmet protects your most important asset.

Padded bike shorts - Padding reduces pressure and friction on long rides, helping prevent soreness and soft tissue irritation.

Comfortable cycling shoes - Proper cycling shoes improve your power transfer and keep your foot in the right position, reducing strain on your knees, ankles, and hips.

Massage ball - Perfect for targeting tight spots post-ride — especially the glutes, calves, and the soles of your feet.

Post-ride coffee - Because every great ride deserves a reward — and that caffeine hit helps reduce post-exercise muscle soreness too!

And don't forget — regular massage keeps your legs fresh, your body moving freely, and the injuries at bay. Book your recovery session via the link in bio.

Chronic stress can take a serious toll on the body, keeping stress hormones like cortisol persistently elevated, which over time leads to poor sleep, a weakened immune system, ongoing muscle tension and heightened risk of anxiety and depression.

Massage therapy is one of the most well-researched natural remedies available, directly activating the body's "rest and recover" response to lower cortisol, reduce blood pressure, and boost mood-enhancing chemicals like serotonin and dopamine.

If you've been feeling stressed lately, a massage can really help you relieve tension in your body and make you more relaxed. Come and see me in the studio - link in bio

Do you remember the Aitkens diet boom? We were told carbs, even fruit and vegetables, caused insulin spikes, fat storage, and weight gain.

But if you're training and moving your body you really need the carbs to properly fuel yourself for exercise so you can perform at your best. This is what Tamara (Tam) Madden told myself and a group of my running friends. She is a specialist in fuelling for endurance sport.

You should have some carbs before you exercise and 30 minutes post training session. If you're keen to learn more, I would highly recommend checking out her website. She also does consultations madonnutrition.com.au

A lot of the time when we procrastinate — especially around exercise — we're quietly abandoning our future self. Leaving them the stiffness, the sluggishness, the "I wish I had just done it."

But that person is worth showing up for. Moving your body isn't a punishment for how you feel right now. It's a gift to who you'll be in an hour.

A knot - what therapists call a trigger point - is basically a small patch of muscle that's gotten stuck in a contracted state. It's not resting the way it should. And because it's not releasing, it pulls on everything around it. That's why a knot in your shoulder can give you a headache. That's why tight hips can make your lower back ache. Nothing in your body works in isolation.

The ni**le is its quieter cousin — not quite a knot, not quite pain, just a persistent whisper that something isn't right. Easy to dismiss. Easy to push through.

But both of them are your body trying to tell you something. And the longer you leave them, the louder they have to get. Let me work those knots and ni**les out. Book in an appointment today! Link in bio.

In 2024, I ran over 1,000 km in 58 days for the charity in memory of my brother Tim who passed away at age 58. Each day getting up to run was great on some days and more challenging on others. I think having a goal and a purpose to why I was running helped me stay focused but there were also daily things that helped me get through tougher days - like affirmations and running with friends.

If you've got an athletic goal you're working towards, regular massages can also be a great way to help you keep going and perform at your best. Come and see me at the studio. Book in via link in bio.

A great way to prevent bigger injuries during your running training is to work out any ni**les on a regular basis. My foot has been sore so I just massaged some physio cream into my calf and foot. It's a really simple technique that you can do every day at home. If you feel like your body needs some extra attention book in for a remedial massage with me. Link in bio.
