Advancing Parkinson's care is easier when everyone is in the same room.

That's what makes the World Parkinson Congress so special. Researchers, clinicians, advocates, and people living with Parkinson's, all together.

The last time was Barcelona, 2023. We showed up with a handful of published trials and a protocol we believed in. We left with a much clearer sense of what mattered to the community, and where we needed to focus next.

Three years later, we're attending again with more published research, and a lot more to share.

We can't wait to see familiar faces and meet new ones. And if you can't make it to Phoenix this year – follow along. We'll be sharing updates from the floor. 💚

If you live with IBD, you've probably heard all of these before.

Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, and other conditions classified as IBD are complex and chronic and affect every aspect of daily life. Yet they remain widely misunderstood, frequently dismissed, and still waiting for the research attention they deserve.

This World IBD Day, we want these myths to disappear. We're standing with everyone who has ever been told their experience wasn't valid. And we're continuing to invest in light therapy research in this area because we believe everyone living with IBD deserves more options.

Your pain is real. Your exhaustion is real. You deserve to be taken seriously. 💜

Most people think of Parkinson's as a brain disease. But what if, for some people, it starts somewhere else entirely?

Our recent webinar on the gut-brain axis and Parkinson's disease covered some of the most fascinating (and surprisingly old) science in this field. Swipe through for 3 key learnings you might have missed if you couldn't attend live!

And not to worry – if you wanted to learn more about the topics covered, the full recording is now live on our YouTube channel.

Will we be seeing you at WPC in 2 weeks?

It's incredible to be sharing a space with researchers, clinicians, and most importantly people with Parkinson's and their caregivers.

The team can't wait to catch up with everyone since the last WPC in Barcelona in 2023. If you've ever wanted to chat about light therapy, Parkinson's research, or anything along those lines - we'd love to meet up.

If you can't be there in person, we will be posting regular updates from the floor, so follow to stay up to date on the happenings of the Congress.

Let the countdown begin!

If you or someone you love has Parkinson's, this educational conversation is worth 60 minutes of your time.

The gut–brain axis is one of the most active areas of neurological research right now.

As a company researching and developing light therapy technology, we're committed to sharing emerging research openly with the Parkinson's community. This why we're bringing these expert voices to you — at no cost.

We're hosting a FREE webinar this Parkinson's Awareness Month with two researchers from the University of Leeds:

• What the gut–brain axis is, and why it matters for neurological health
• What current research tells us about the gut's role in Parkinson's
• How light therapy is being investigated to potentially influence gut–brain signalling, including a breakdown of an active University of Leeds clinical study

🗓 30th April | 8AM (UK) / 5PM (Sydney)
The event will be free via Zoom.

You may be familiar with the phrase "trust your gut".

It turns out that the gut and brain are in constant communication, and this two-way conversation may be important in Parkinson's.

📣 UPCOMING WEBINAR 📣

If you're keen to dive deeper into this topic, you'd love our free webinar on 30th April, where our CEO Wayne Markman interviews 2 people who are researching this very topic at the University of Leeds - Professor Lijing Ke and researcher Niamh Corry.

The session will cover the fundamentals of the gut–brain axis, where light therapy fits into the Parkinson's research landscape, and an inside look at the University of Leeds study currently underway using SYMBYX light therapy.

Many people think of Parkinson's as a brain disease that affects movement - that's the textbook answer.

But researchers are increasingly asking: what if other body systems are involved? Like the gut?

Over the last decade, the gut–brain axis has moved from a niche hypothesis to one of the most actively investigated areas in Parkinson's research.

Questions like:
- How might this biological communication network actually work?
- What role might it play in Parkinson's?
- How can complementary approaches like light therapy work with it for symptom support?
These are the questions being asked right now - and we want those conversations to you.

This Parkinson's Awareness Month, SYMBYX is hosting a free webinar with some expert speakers to make this research accessible to the people who need it most.

Perfect for anyone living with Parkinson's, a caregiver, or simply someone who is curious about where the science is headed.

We love this reflection from Chen, because it highlights a message we share to anyone using SYMBYX light therapy to complement their existing routine for Parkinson's.

Consistency is key 🔑

In a world that often looks for "quick fixes," Chen’s experience is a reminder that progress may happen quietly, over time.

Everyone’s journey with Parkinson’s is unique, and results are never identical. But stories like Chen’s remind us why we do this work — to support those personal milestones that make a daily difference.

"This is nonsense. What effect is that supposed to have?"

That was Horst's first reaction to light therapy after he learnt about it from the founder of his local kickboxing group, 'Kick-Parkinson', based in Germany.

Horst ended up trying light therapy as a complementary tool to his routine alongside regular kickboxing classes.

Now? He's travelling more, spending time with people again, doing things he hadn't done in years. He even describes finding his old speed again as "a wonderful feeling."

This is Parkinson's Awareness Month, and real stories like this are why we do what we do at SYMBYX.

If you or someone you love has ever dismissed something before giving it a chance - share this. 💚
