Prue Sturgeon Integrative Complementary Medicine & Kinesiology Are you curious to explore the connection between your mind and body? Are you wondering what Kinesiology and Mind Body Medicine actually is?

Hi, I’m Prue and I’m a Integrative Complementary Medicine Practitioner & Kinesiologist. If you are wondering what these modalities are, this is for you....

WHAT IS INTEGRATIVE COMPLIMENTARY MEDICINE? ICM, or Mind-Body Medicine (MBM), is a holistic approach combining ancient wisdom from the East with science based Western medicine practices in order to explore the mind-body connection and promote physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health, using a number of techniques, including kinesiology*. ICM/MBM aim to identify the underlying cause of a problem, rather than simply treating the symptom, and works with the body’s innate ability to heal in order to restore balance to neurological and physiological function. Kinesiology is a safe, effective and non-invasive biofeedback tool (gentle muscle monitoring) used to identify stress patterns within the body. Through this gentle approach, profound changes may be experienced emotionally, mentally and physically, thereby increasing a person’s health and wellbeing. When our system is functioning well, we feel well. My belief is we could all do with understanding ourselves a little better. The mind and body is a miracle and Mind Body Medicine & Kinesiology are a fascinating way of better understanding yourself, your body and the world around you. It's helps to bring about a connection and can help you move through life in a calmer, more mindful and aware way. If you’re keen to understand your mind and body on a deeper level, I would love to work with you. I am available for sessions at the Health Space Potts Point clinic. 🌕FULL MOON WOMENS CIRCLE 🌕

Women have been gathering in circles since the beginning of time, to share experiences, stories, ideas and prayers.

This creates a space that allows us to feel safe to come just as we are, to be our true selves.
A space to hear other's stories, and realise we are not alone.
A space to connect.
This is our Sacred Space.

Our Women's Circle offers a safe and gentle space for women of all ages and backgrounds to come together and share.

We will be doing Sacred work - letting go of what no longer serves, acknowledging what does, discussing the power of Yin and the moon's cycles, and sharing tea.

If this calls you, give yourself permission to join us, Beautiful ❤️

What's the big deal about Meditation and Mindfulness?

These are two major buzzword's at the moment. But why are they so popular?

This Harvard Business Review article shares how mindfulness, and meditation, can literally change your brain.

3 Easy Tips to STAYING PRESENT

>> Do you ever arrive somewhere, whether driving or on foot, and realise you were on auto-pilot the whole time?

>> Do you get to the end of the day and wonder where the time went? Or maybe, for you, Friday seems to hit you in the face, and just as quickly it is Sunday night and the next week is about to start again?

>> Do you just feel a general feeling of rushing from one thing to another?

These are common experiences, and stress is something I work with most of my clients on. Time appears to speed up when we are juggling a lot, and let’s face it, who’s modern day life isn’t filled to the brim? That’s not about to change any time soon, so the question becomes…

Can we ACTUALLY change our brain to respond in a better way to stress?

And the answer is, yes! And it has been proven.

A recent Harvard Business Review article (link in next post) outlines how mindfulness practices enhance our ability to embrace change and manage stress. There are SO MANY benefits to practicing being present in our everyday lives.

SO, here are 3 EASY tips to staying present throughout your day:

1. BREATHE: diaphragmatic breathing is a great way to bring yourself into the present moment, because your attention is solely within your body, it removes the space for errant thoughts.
>> How to: Place one hand on your chest, the other on your belly. Breathe through your nose down into your belly, feeling how the breath moves the hand resting on your abdomen. Repeat 10 times.

2. SENSES: as soon as you are giving all of your attention to your hearing/sight/taste etc, you are unable to be focussed outside of yourself on unnecessary thoughts.
>> How to: Put a 5min timer on your phone right now. Bring all of your attention to the various sounds you can hear right now - both close and far away. And observe. Be curious and open to the variety of sounds around you right now.

OR Bring all of your attention to your feet in your shoes, notice how each of your toes feel.

3. REMINDERS: It can be difficult to remember to do these kinds of things sometimes, so set yourself reminders that will work for YOU. Whether they are sticky notes on your wall, a picture on your desktop, OR an alarm on your phone. Do what works for you.

Staying in the present moment takes practice, and these tips can assist in keeping you on track and working with purpose.
If you feel you could benefit from a deeper dive to alleviate some of that stress, I would love to work with you in a Mind Body Medicine & Kinesiology session – call 83571851 to book your initial.
