Unfortunately I learnt the hard way on how to manage my stress. By not doing so in the right way, led to burnout and aggravated my depression and anxiety.⁠

Learning practical tools to relieve and prevent stress doesn't have to be hard. Most of us aren't taught how to practically manage stress, when stressful situations arise throughout your day.⁠

But this doesn't need to happen! ⁠
Small, incremental daily practises was key to the relief that I didn't know I needed.⁠
Now that I have these in my toolkit and know when to used them, it's helped me be able to manage, maintain and prevent my symptoms of burnout as well as my depression and anxiety.⁠

It’s totally understandable why we love eating refined sugar. ⁠

You’re surrounded by it, bombarded by it through advertising and packaging, it lights up your reward centres and makes you feel good. Studies have also shown that sugar mimics the effects of opiates. WHHAAATTT?! ⁠

What’s more, I had no idea refined sugar was exacerbating my depression, amongst other things..until I saw a nutritionist many years ago who straight up said - YOU ARE ADDICTED TO SUGAR. Basically saying ‘you’re a drug addict’. 😳⁠😂⁠

I was in so much denial at the time, but in retrospect, she was absolutely correct.⁠

The second I made the decision to make changes to my sugar intake, it was really chalk and cheese. ⁠

This is what happened:⁠
✅ My skin cleared up.⁠
✅ My moods became a bit more balanced.⁠
✅ I lost fat.⁠
✅ I had less brain fog.⁠
✅ I was learning things faster.⁠

Now don’t get me wrong, I still eat sugar. I’m still human, female and get the occasional craving. But today, I’ve change the sources of sugar, the quantity and also how I consume it.⁠

Give it a try! I’m not saying go cold turkey but for a month, try reducing the amount you consume and see how you feel. ⁠

A health coach is like having a personal trainer - except with me, for your nutrition, lifestyle and your mental well-being. 💪🏼⁠

Most of us are deep in the rat race, the doing, the abyss of life’s ‘things we just gotta do’ and what seems to be for some, at the cost of their health, either physically, mentally or even both.⁠

What I notice the most that further exacerbates symptoms:⁠
❗️Knowing what ‘healthy’ foods or choices are but because of their busy lifestyles and schedules, they grab what is easiest and fastest.⁠
❗️Doing things at the sacrifice or expense of themselves.⁠
❗️Often partaking in lifestyle choices that may be causing themselves further damage because it is the ‘social norm’. ⁠
❗️Either unaware of stress levels or the stress has been prolonged that it has become the ‘norm’. ⁠
❗️Burying of emotions, or brush things under the rug and have past traumas that are left unhealed and unchecked.⁠
❗️Trying to make lifestyle changes, it starts off strong, but doesn’t stick when life’s stressors pop up. ⁠

If any of this sounds like you, don't worry. You are not alone.⁠

Most of us know what is textbook ‘good for us’ but everyone is bio-individual and what is ‘healthy’ for one person may cause a reaction for others. I’ll help you hone in on your intuition when it comes to eating the right food for 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 body. ⁠

The work that we will do together is to help transform your lifestyle habits and make them stick, but also help to challenge your current mindset on health as a whole where ‘health’ is not just what is on your plate but just as importantly what is off your plate.⁠

Sometimes it is of the simplest things that can help so much. 🤍

Allow yourself to listen to your body and mind.👂🏼It’s hard to spot the signs with your habits and subconscious always taking over.

Allow yourself the time and care you deserve and take a moment. 🧘🏻

🙋🏻‍♀️ Do you ask for help?
🙋🏻‍♀️ Are you aware of the build up of stress and burnout before it happens?
🙋🏻‍♀️ Do you answer the question “how are you?” with “I’m good!” as a reflex?
🙋🏻‍♀️ Are you holding onto things just because they have always been that way?

Do you put others first before yourself? Are you always putting 110% effort in making sure others are looked after first? I feel ya.⁠

But sometimes, this isn't always what’s best for you or your circle of influence.⁠
I used to let external factors dictate my life.⁠
I cared WAY too much about what others thought of me and never gave myself any credit for my abilities.⁠
I had ZERO boundaries which led me to be at the mercy of everything and everyone else, except myself.⁠
In the end, I lost sight of who I was. Until...⁠

One day, it all became too much.⁠

Here's what I did:⁠
🏃🏻‍♀️𝐈 𝐠𝐨𝐭 𝐮𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐲 𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲. ⁠
By investing time and energy changing my state of being, it momentarily afforded me the momentum to seek support.⁠

🗓 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐦𝐲 𝐩𝐬𝐲𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧. ⁠
Investing in professional help is not a sign of weakness. There are specialist doctors for a reason, and luckily enough, I found someone who I gel with. ❤️⁠

📝 𝐓𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐲 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝. ⁠
Invested in courses not only to expand my knowledge but also to be trained and certified in other skills, leading me to now do what I love as a career.⁠
