Are you unsure how to support your teen's skin and hormones during puberty?

Teen skin can be confusing, turbulent, and unpredictable. (Much like their moods! 🤪)

Luckily, we can teach them good habits and routines to understand their skin and body.

Start with a basic skin routine,it does not need to be high end to work, but selecting a good starter brand with effective ingredients can do wonders. A good cleanser, moisturiser, exfoliant (if no active pustules), and SPF. Home LED devices can also be great for wound healing and reducing inflammation.

Speak about hydration and hygiene, changing pillowslips every few days. Washing their faces, morning and night. Diet- reduce and limit dairy, wheat, and sugar, which cause internal inflammation.

If back acne is an issue, make sure they are washing shampoo and conditioner throughly from the body as they can clog pores or look at changing to another brand.

Puberty can be a trying time, but if you can help your teen keep their skin clear, I'm sure they will be happy with the support.

If you or your teen would like some personalised recommendations, book in link above..

Comprehensive Digestion Stool Analysis (CDSA)

So what is a CDSA?
A CDSA is a comprehensive analysis of your microbiome. That includes information on any bacterial dysbiosis, potential pathogens, yeast, or fungal overgrowth or parasites that may be affecting your health and wellbeing.

Who should do this test?
Anyone who is showing signs or symptoms of gastrointestinal or other aliments that you have not been able to get to the bottom of. (Pun intended 😉)

These tests are available through trained health practitioners via functional testing labs, they can be expensive (usually around the $400 mark) but give extensive information on your gut health and can really get to the 'root cause' of an issue and be treated accordingly.

If you suffer from gut, stomach, or skin issues, please enquire about the CDSA and if it is right for you.

Have you tried a lymphatic facial yet?

A tightening mask is applied to the skin as part of this stimulating and unique treatment. The mask applied dries and tightens the skin while stimulating bloodflow, lymph, and fluid drainage.

Then, the skin is massaged and encouraged to release any puffiness in the face and neck. Resulting in a more refreshed, youthful appearance.

Working with the lymphatic system has so many benefits. It boosts the elimination pathways and supports the immune system, resulting in a youthful glow and as a bonus- more energy!

Are you ready to try it? 🤗

Did you know you should NOT fast the week before your period?

Why?

During this time, your body is making progesterone. Progesterone is sensitive to cortisol and glucose spikes and declines when cortisol gets high (fasting puts the body into a stressed state).

Progesterone also prefers when our glucose is on the higher side - this is why we crave certain foods leading into our period! Hello carbs! 😏

This is why, for women- fasting the week before your period is not conducive to hormonal health.

Men- Fast away, the hormonal cycles do not apply to you like us.. lucky buggars

CELIAC & NON-CELIAC GLUTEN SENSITIVITY

Celiac disease is a genetic, autoimmune disorder that causes your immune system to attack the lining of your small intestine when you consume gluten. Eventually, your lining becomes so compromised that it impacts your ability to absorb and distribute nutrients into the body and bloodstream.

Symptoms include
Fatigue
Constipation
Pain and bloating
Arthritis
Anaemia
Bone and joint pain
Low bone density

The bloodtest for celiac disease is the Tissue Transglutaminase Antibodies, usually followed up with an endoscopy to take an internal sample.

Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity is a condition where people experience symptoms, but without the clinical markers.

They can experience
Bloating
Abdominal pain
Epigastric pain
Diarrhea
Constipation
Eczema/ dermatitis
Headache
Brain fog
Fatigue
Anxiety
Depression
Numbness is arms and legs
Joint pain

The blood test to determine your gluten sensitivity is to check for antigladin antibodies of the IgA and IgA classes. You do need to be eating gluten, though, for this to be accurate at the time.

If you are experiencing any of the above and would like to chat about gluten and a potential sensitivity, book above.

Well, we are almost a week into our detox protocol, after a few days of feeling a bit headachy – I'm not sure if that was due to the detox or my husband kindly bringing a virus home! Regardless, I am feeling good and energetic 5 days in. Illness can be a good time to do a detox as the focus gets p...

Why you should use a binder to support your detoxification

Binders are substances that bind to toxins in the body and help move them through the digestive system.

They are commonly used as part of detoxification protocols and support the body's natural detox processes. Some examples of binders include:

❤️Activated charcoal is one of the most commonly used binders. It has a porous structure and can absorb a wide range of toxins, heavy metals, and pesticides. When taken orally, it binds toxins in the gut and prevents their absorption in the bloodstream.

🩵Clay is another type of binder by absorbing toxins into its surface. Including heavy metals, toxins, and bacteria.

💜Fibre is an overlooked binder that works by binding toxins in the gut and promoting elimination through f***s. Fibre rich foods include flaxseed, psyllium husk, and chia seeds.

💚 Chlorella is a type of algae that is rich in chlorophyll, which gives it a green colour.

Binders are a great addition to any detox as we want to pull the toxins released and inhibit any reabsorption via the bloodstream.

It is good to take a binder on an empty stomach, 30 minutes before food and drink in the morning. Drink more water than usual when taking a binder and an hour away from any medication or supplements.

Detox and support your body with me in May

A detox does not need to be boring, restrictive, or dull.

🌷I like to focus on clean, nutritious foods.
🌹Eating 3 meals a day - not just juicing or smoothies - even though you may choose to swap one meal for a smoothie or soup- it's your choice - your evening meal is the best choice here if you do.
🌺Create healthy habits and routines - get up and move daily, drink more water, and focus on clearing your mind too - meditation, dance, yoga, or breathwork can all be solid support tools while detoxing.
🦚Exercise daily - get the blood pumping and choose something you love to do.
🪷 No snacks, sugar, alcohol or coffee for 1-2 weeks.
🐞 Use plant based protein or wild caught seafood as the staple of each meal - beans, lentils, tofu, and fill your meal with good vegies with lots of colour, use quality oils, fats, spices and nuts to add taste and punch.
🦋 Use a binder to assist elimination. (Reel to come on this tomorrow) to help eliminate and bind toxins in the body.

We kick off tomorrow, but join me anytime over the next two weeks.
