SIL is changing from 1 July

From 1 July 2026, all Supported Independent Living (SIL) providers need to be NDIS registered.

If you’re currently in SIL, it’s a good time to start looking at your setup and understanding your options.

For some people, this might mean checking if your provider will be registered. For others, it could be exploring different options.

The change is all about strengthening quality and safeguards across providers.

Today is Earth Day, a global reminder that the choices we make every day shape the world we share. From the spaces we live in to the communities we build, caring for our environment helps create a healthier future for everyone.

Sustainability is often about small, thoughtful actions, reducing waste, using resources more responsibly and creating environments that support wellbeing for people and the planet alike.

At United For Care, we believe strong communities are built on respect: for each other and for the world around us.

Support that makes a difference.

When someone you love experiences a life-changing event, the right support can mean everything. For one family, that moment came when their sister suffered a stroke that left her non-verbal and living with a permanent physical disability.

With the support of a dedicated and compassionate team, they were able to find stability during a difficult time. Quality care, patience and understanding helped bring a sense of routine and reassurance back into daily life, not just for the participant, but for the whole family.

Today we recognise Auslan Day, celebrating Australian Sign Language and the vibrant Deaf community across the country. Auslan is a rich, visual language that carries stories, identity and culture, connecting people in ways that go far beyond words.

At United For Care, we know that feeling heard and understood is essential to belonging. Embracing different ways people communicate helps create spaces where everyone can participate, build relationships and live more connected lives.

When care is complex, support must be too.

Not all In Home Care is the same. For people with higher support needs, complex care provides the specialised support required to make everyday life safer, more manageable and more independent.

it goes beyond basic assistance, this includes skilled support for medical and disability-related needs such as medication management, wound care, ventilator or tracheostomy support and seizure monitoring. With the right expertise, many people can receive this level of care while continuing to live at home.

Care is also tailored around the person's health needs, routines, goals and preferences, so they can stay connected to their family, community and everyday life.

For families, this provides confidence that their loved one is supported by experienced skilled professionals while remaining in their home environment.
