“When our feet hurt, we hurt all over” is often attributed to Socrates, but there isn’t any historical evidence or documentation confirming that he actually said this. However, the sentiment of the quote is strong.

A bit of philosophy on this fine Thursday.
It’s long been understood that if our foundations are lacking, we can’t build a finely tuned machine above them. We can try, but eventually, those foundations won’t hold.

It starts with helping you understand what your feet should do. Then we can assess what you can and can’t do, giving us the information needed to build your base and fully utilize everything you’ve built above it.

The human foot 🦶🏼 is made up of 26 bones 🦴 that form 33 joints 🔗. These joints are designed to move!

I often describe the foot as the perfect suspension system - when it’s allowed to function naturally. However, arch support, cushioning, and orthotics dramatically hinder your foot’s natural ability to disperse and produce tension.

On impact with the ground, the joints on the underside of the foot should open up, creating a flatter and wider foot shape (known as pronation). As the foot begins to take off, the joints on the underside of the foot close, creating a higher arch shape (known as supination) that springs us into motion.

When our feet lack movement, we tend to rely more on cushioning, which in turn limits foot movement even further - creating a vicious cycle that can lead to pain elsewhere in the body as it tries to compensate with every step you take.

So, are you ready to restore your feet’s natural function?

At The MAP Movement, I follow a comprehensive process to empower my clients towards optimal well-being:

Assessment: I conduct thorough assessments to understand each client’s unique needs, including pain points, mobility issues, and strength limitations.

Personalised Solutions: Based on the assessment results, I develop personalised plans tailored to address individual needs and goals.

Holistic Approach: My approach encompasses various techniques, including exploring biomechanics, posture analysis, and evidence-based methods, to address the root causes of discomfort.

Empowerment Through Understanding: I prioritise empowering clients by ensuring they understand the ‘why’ behind every exercise. Through video examples from our extensive library, clients gain insight into the purpose and benefits of each movement, enabling them to continue their progress independently into the future.

Guided Support: Throughout the journey, I provide ongoing guidance, support, and education to empower clients to take control of their health and well-being.

Transformation: My ultimate goal is to facilitate a transformative journey where clients experience improved movement, strength, and performance, leading to a life free from the constraints of pain.
