the yogi + the corgi

the yogi + the corgi We offer fun and safe yoga + bring your dog experiences. Oh hi there, welcome! I am Kat. I am a yogi, teacher, a forever student, and lover of dogs.

I began my journey with yoga over a decade ago, and very soon knew that this was life changing. From there, I achieved my RYT200HR with Hom in Sydney training under Dice Iida-Klein and Briohny Smyth. In 2020, my life changed again with the arrival of my darling fluff monster Pickle. Like many dog parents I love my dog and want to take him everywhere. I’ve struggled to find options that welcome dog

s, whether restaurants, accommodation, and public transport. Which is why, I have several services that encourage your dog to attend and enjoy the experience together. It is so important to me to ensure that you and your dog feel safe in every environment, so please reach out for any questions.

It's that time of the week

Today's tip: how often are you changing your program?
I like the 80/20 rule - why? There is value in repetition to build skills and mastery.

How do we do this? Repeated exercises, flows, familiar structures and sequences. This helps clients with confidence and keep them safe before progressing.

I like to look at 3 things:
1. Can Teach - this one feels obvious!

3. Reliability - are you accountable?

Do you have all 3? Do you have more? What else would you look for? Let me know 👇🏽

It's Tuesday which means it's time for our
Following on from last week, we are discussing and if you haven't "mastered" an exercise - should you teach it?

A couple of scenarios -
1. You used to be able to do it but not you do not practice it anymore for whatever reason - this feels legit ok to teach
2. It's a WIP and you're getting there - perfect, you've got the building blocks for modifications and regressions/progressions to lead into the full expression
3. It's a hard no, just no - if you have a good grip on the foundations of the movement or maybe it's a combo of multiple movements and have experienced components in different orientations, equipment or with props - it can definitely work

However, when you first start to teach it can be really challenging to explain something without having experienced it. Which is why, is an ongoing commitment to your learning

It's another ❤️

This one is about embracing your inner Elsa and to when the cues aren't hitting and you're going balls to the wall with cues 😭

Remembering clients are human and teaching with empathy - always makes you a great instructor. I use a 3 cue rule - if I've used 3 different cues and it's just not landing (and the client is safe) - maybe just let it go.
