Episode4 - This inspiring story of a Falun Gong practitioner reveals a remarkable miracle: recovering from pelvis and femur fractures caused by a traffic accident through practising Falun Gong exercises.
Ms. Zhu Yuanhu was chosen as a lead actress for the Local Wu Opera Troupe in Jingyun County, Zhejiang Province, for her striking beauty and captivating performances. However, after she began practising Falun Dafa, she faced persecution under the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) 1999 crackdown on Falun Gong. Her steadfast belief led to a seven-year imprisonment in Hangzhou Women’s Prison, where the extremely inhuman tortures took a toll on her appearance but could not break her faith.
After relocating to Songjiang District in Shanghai, Ms. Zhu opened a clothing shop in Sijing Town. On April 25, 2011, she left home to catch the subway for business. At her residential area’s entrance, with no taxis or buses available, she opted for a passenger motorcycle. Unbeknownst to her, the young male driver had only learned to ride and started offering transport services four days earlier. En route to Sijing subway station, a car suddenly cut them off at an intersection. Ms. Zhu was thrown into the air, collided with the car’s door, and fell to the ground. The motorcycle landed on her, leaving her immobile. She sustained severe injuries: half of her pelvis collapsed, her femur felt unnaturally horizontal, and her leg felt as though a steel plate had been inserted, causing excruciating pain. A bleeding wound marked her head.
When the ambulance and traffic police arrived, Ms. Zhu refused hospital treatment, stating her Falun Gong practice would aid her recovery at home. Her decision alarmed the car and motorcycle drivers, who feared liability for her potential further injury or death. Ms. Zhu reassured them, saying, “Our Master teaches us to be compassionate. You didn’t hit me intentionally, so I won’t hold you responsible or demand compensation. Please take me home.” Relieved, the drivers agreed.
Moving her proved challenging due to her intense pain. A pedicab was summoned, and she was carefully placed on it for transporting home. The pedicab driver questioned her refusal to seek medical care or compensation, remarking, “You’ve been seriously injured. Why not go to the hospital or at least ask for 80,000–100,000 RMB?” Ms. Zhu replied, “As a Falun Gong practitioner, I follow our Master’s teachings to be a good person and not trouble others. They didn’t mean to harm me. I’ll recover by doing exercises at home.” Skeptical, the driver cited negative TV reports about Falun Gong. Ms. Zhu explained that the CCP spreads false narratives to justify its persecution, inciting hatred against Falun Gong. Moved by her kindness, the driver, a Christian, said, “I’ve never seen such a high spiritual standard. My family has been Christian for decades, but I couldn’t reach your level. I truly admire Falun Gong.”
At home, after cleaning her wounds, Ms. Zhu struggled to sit for 40 minutes. The motorcycle driver’s wife visited, explaining that her husband had been detained due to the accident’s severity. The police required proof of Ms. Zhu’s recovery to release him, or he faced potential sentencing. Ms. Zhu offered to write a guarantee confirming her condition, despite her husband’s objections, and declined any compensation. The driver was released and gratefully called Ms. Zhu a “living bodhisattva,” to which she credited her Falun Gong practice and its teachings.
Defying her husband’s concerns about worsening her injuries, Ms. Zhu began the fifth Falun Gong exercise, a sitting meditation, enduring immense pain. Gradually, her pain subsided. The other four exercises, requiring standing, posed greater challenges, but she persevered. During the second exercise, a miracle unfolded: her hip moved and stretched, and her body lifted and turned, bringing comfort with each motion. Family, friends, and fellow practitioners witnessed her body’s remarkable movements during these exercises.
By the 11th day post-accident, Ms. Zhu could slowly walk to the bathroom. On the 15th day, she reached the dining room for meals. By the 28th day, she walked out from her fourth-floor apartment to the Songjiang Notary Office for business by taking subway. Local officials monitoring her, aware of her recovery, urged her not to attribute it to Falun Gong. Ms. Zhu refused to comply. Inspired by her story, neighbours and friends began exploring Falun Gong, requesting videos and books to learn more.
Curiously, the motorcycle driver reportedly vanished after his release, unable to believe Ms. Zhu’s recovery was solely due to her Falun Gong practice.
