Believe it or not, much of our life experience is quietly shaped beneath the surface — within the subconscious mind. Every moment we live through carries an emotional imprint, and these feelings are stored deep within us, often beyond our conscious awareness.
A recent personal experience reminded me of this truth.
My twins just started childcare, and when I was asked if I had any separation challenges, my immediate answer was “No.” I felt calm and confident, knowing they were in a safe, nurturing environment where they could learn and grow.
But what I didn’t realise was that my subconscious mind was processing something very different.
I woke up from my nap after dreaming that the educator wasn’t kind, that I had lost my twins, and I was crying in my sleep. It felt so real, so emotional — and it caught me completely off guard.
That was my “aha” moment.
Because no matter how rational and composed I felt consciously, subconsciously, I was still experiencing the emotional weight of separation. A part of me was holding feelings I hadn’t fully acknowledged.
This is why it’s so common to hear people say, “I’m okay,” “I’ve moved on,” or “It doesn’t matter anymore.” And yet, when something triggers them, they are suddenly pulled back into the same emotional state.
It’s not because they’re weak or going backwards — it’s because the subconscious mind still holds onto those unresolved feelings and memories, even when the conscious mind has made sense of them.
✨ The power of the subconscious mind lies in its quiet influence — shaping our emotions, reactions, and ultimately, the reality we experience.
